Even after a frantic free agency beginning that saw <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FoleNi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Foles<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BridTe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Teddy Bridgewater<\/a>,<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FitzRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Fitzpatrick<\/a><\/strong> among others earn substantial offers (Bridgewater turned down his), there are still other some options out on the market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we look at rosters across the team, there are many teams with fluid situations at the most key position to their franchise. Many depth charts will drastically change over the next few month\u2019s before the first preseason games of 2019 come in August. Who will take the draft&#8217;s cream of the crop in Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins, or Drew Lock? Who will take a chance on a late-round option like Tyree Jackson or Kyle Shurmur? Who will wait for next year&#8217;s class?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I evaluated each NFL team\u2019s quarterback situation, and speculate answers to these questions. Here are\u00a0the bottom 12 teams\u00a0based on the list I compiled. Bold players are the presumed team starter, and bold draft picks are first rounders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>Team Quarterback Rankings: Part One<\/h1>\n<h2><b>32. Buffalo Bills<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: AFC East<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 6-10<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=AlleJo02,AlleJo00&amp;search=Josh+Allen&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Allen<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AndeDe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Derek Anderson<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarkMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Barkley<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 9<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 40; Round 3, Pick 74<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Brandon Beane<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McDeSe20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean McDermott<\/a><\/strong> got the quarterback they needed from the 2018 Draft,\u00a0 in Josh Allen. That doesn\u2019t mean they don\u2019t still own the worst quarterback situation, and possibly the worse offensive group in football.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GoreFr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Gore<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=BrowJo02,BrowJo22,BrowJo21&amp;search=John+Brown&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Brown<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BeasCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cole Beasley<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KrofTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Kroft<\/a><\/strong> are upgrades, and sending\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PeteNa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan Peterman<\/a> out the door was long overdue. But between Allen\u2019s inconsistent rookie campaign and Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley\u2019s semi-pro level of play, Buffalo isn\u2019t anywhere near the rest of the league at this position. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>31. Washington Redskins<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: NFC East<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 7-9<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McCoCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colt McCoy<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JohnJo05,JohnJo07&amp;search=Josh+Johnson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Johnson<\/a><\/strong> (Free Agent), <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KeenCa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Case Keenum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SancMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Sanchez<\/a><\/strong> (Free Agent), <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=SmitAl03,SmitAl02&amp;search=Alex+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Smith<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 15<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 46; Round 3, Pick 76<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colt McCoy (7-20 career starting record) and Case Keenum (26-28 record), are the only active quarterbacks on this roster. Josh Johnson (coming off of a recent ankle surgery) and Mark Sanchez are currently unsigned but don&#8217;t have a large market while the Redskins are still holding a candle for Alex Smith after his gruesome leg injury. Washington will most likely go into the season either with either Keenum or McCoy under center. Neither seem to be sufficient options to lead this team to compete against the Cowboys and Eagles, let alone raise their playoff hopes, but Coach Jay Gruden appears willing to hang his tenure on their backs and new quarterbacks coach <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RattTi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Rattay<\/a><\/strong>. I don\u2019t see anything yet that will make that a good decision, but maybe the Redskins sneak away with a prospect from this year\u2019s draft that could make things work out well.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 30. New York Giants<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: NFC East<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 5-11<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MannEl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eli Manning<\/a>,<\/b><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LaulKy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Lauletta<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TannAl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Tanney<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 6; Round 1, Pick 17<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 37<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As much as general manager Dave Gettleman tries to convince the rest of the football universe that he has a plan, the Giants currently carry the exact same quarterback group from last season, despite a 5-11 tenure led by longtime franchise starter, Eli Manning. Gettleman believes that Manning still has what it takes, but <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/03\/12\/new-york-giants-trade-odell-beckham-jr-to-cleveland-browns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">after sending<\/a> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BeckOd00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Odell Beckham<\/a><\/strong> out of town, I doubt now more than ever he\u2019ll be able to prove us wrong. Even if he does have one more year in the tank, Kyle Lauletta and Alex Tanney don\u2019t appear to be even potential starting options in the future. Hopefully, they\u2019ll go and get <strong>Kyler Murray, <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/02\/04\/dwayne-haskins-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dwayne Haskins<\/a><\/strong>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2019\/01\/28\/drew-lock-2019-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Drew Lock<\/strong><\/a>, but until then this will be one of the uglier QB charts &#8211; and overall rosters &#8211; in the league.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>29. Arizona Cardinals<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: NFC West<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 3-13<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RoseJo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Rosen<\/a>,<\/b><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HundBr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brett Hundley<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 33; Round 3, Pick 65<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drafting Josh Rosen and sitting him on the bench to learn from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sam Bradford<\/a><\/strong> and hoping he will develop into a franchise quarterback never really seemed like a good plan. Rosen did what he could, but it wasn&#8217;t enough for a terrible roster. Arizona decided then to completely abandon their plans one year in and hit reset. With new head coach Kliff Kingsbury having the power to draft any player he wants &#8211; including Kyler Murray &#8211; things aren\u2019t safe for Rosen. Adding <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RodgAa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Rodgers<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 longtime backup Brett Hundley sends a mixed message about their plans, but if they roll into the season like this, I doubt Kingsbury&#8217;s offensive mind alone will automatically unlock a higher level of play from Rosen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>28. Miami Dolphins<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: AFC East<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 7-9<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b>Ryan Fitzpatrick,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FaleDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Fales<\/a><\/strong> (Free Agent), <strong>Luke Falk, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/O\/OsweBr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brock Osweiler<\/a><\/strong> (Free Agent) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RudoJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Rudock<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 13<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 48; Round 3, Pick 78<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Dolphins tried to get ahead of the group in the new Mahomes-inspired wave by firing Coach Adam Gase, promoting Chris Grier, and reassigning Mike Tannenbaum. They then shipped <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TannRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Tannehill<\/a><\/strong> out of town, but could only sign Ryan Fitzpatrick in free agency. Say what you want, \u201cFitzmagic\u201d has proven he can still win (and yes, lose) tough games in the NFL. Plus, he&#8217;s still a better option, health and record-wise, than Tannehill. While the surrounding offensive crew will suffer some departures, this could still work &#8211; especially if they draft another quarterback for the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 27. Detroit Lions<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: NFC North<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 6-10<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/StafMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Stafford<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CassMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Cassel<\/a><\/strong> (Free Agent)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 8<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 43; Round 3, Pick 88<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matthew Stafford is entering his 11th season, and his new top target (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AmenDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Danny Amendola<\/a><\/strong>) is older than him, within an even more competitive division. Most of what Stafford has shown us throughout his career has led to one simple determination &#8211; he can\u2019t lead a team down the stretch successfully. He was capable of making it happen at some point, but that opportunity has probably past. It\u2019s time for the Lions to begin exploring future possibilities. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 26. Denver Broncos<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Division: AFC West<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2018 Record: 6-10<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QBs on Roster: <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FlacJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Flacco<\/a>,<\/b><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrayGa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Garrett Grayson<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HogaKe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Hogan<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First three 2019 Draft Picks: <\/span><b>Round 1, Pick 10<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Round 2, Pick 41; Round 3, Pick 71<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Past decisions by the Broncos front office, especially at quarterback, haven&#8217;t inspired others to pick up the confidence they have in ex-Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. Someone with Flacco\u2019s record and statistics should be a clear upgrade to Keenum, but like Manning and Stafford, his\u00a0recent play doesn\u2019t bear quality results. Plus, this team doesn\u2019t have a proven backup for someone coming off of a hip injury. The Broncos\u2019 quarterback situation could head south really fast.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 25. They don\u2019t really have a path to any better options, so Cincinnati will most likely have to ride this guy out too (until next offseason, at least).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 23. The Raiders haven\u2019t expressed confidently they\u2019re sticking with Derek Carr &#8211; he just happened to be the only quarterback on their roster, until they signed Mike Glennon last week. Gruden also made a future\/reserve offer to Nathan Peterman in the hopes that he can transform him. Despite that, Oakland could take a quarterback with one of their eight picks. Whether or not they go for a potential starter out the gate (Haskins, Murray, Lock) &#8211; or a longer-term project remains to be seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b> 22. Meanwhile, Le\u2019Veon Bell is expected to take the offense over the hump. There are definitely significant upgrades all around, but Darnold is another quarterback who did not put together the most inspiring rookie campaign. McCown might not play another year, and now the Jets added the younger Trevor Siemian into the mix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>21. Head Coach <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/V\/VrabMi20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Vrabel<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is tasked with improving this unit after the team put together a strong 9-7 campaign where they nearly made the playoffs. Since Marcus Mariota struggled to stay healthy and Blaine Gabbert was inconsistent, the team went and acquired a injury-prone, inconsistent combination in ex-Dolphin Ryan Tannehill. While Tannehill has shown flashes of being a capable starter, it\u2019s more likely he\u2019ll replace Gabbert in the backup role going forward. It\u2019s far from ideal, but it\u2019s a slight improvement.
