{"id":6218,"date":"2016-11-15T19:52:32","date_gmt":"2016-11-16T00:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/?p=6218"},"modified":"2016-11-15T19:53:08","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T00:53:08","slug":"seahawks-release-christine-michael-and-sealver-siliga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2016\/11\/15\/seahawks-release-christine-michael-and-sealver-siliga\/","title":{"rendered":"Seattle Seahawks Release Christine Michael and Sealver Siliga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday afternoon <strong>Field Yates<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FieldYates\/status\/798658407179829249\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported that <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MichCh00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Christine Michael<\/strong><\/a>, running back for the <strong>Seattle Seahawks<\/strong>, had been released. Michael had an up-and-down career with the team. After being a second-round pick in 2013, he struggled to get on the field behind All-Pro <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LyncMa00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Marshawn Lynch<\/strong><\/a> and backup <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TurbRo00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Robert Turbin<\/strong><\/a>. After being traded to the <strong>Dallas Cowboys<\/strong> in 2015 he was waived and the signed with the <strong>Washington Redskins<\/strong>, where he was also released.<\/p>\n<h2>Seattle Seahawks Release Christine Michael and Sealver Siliga<\/h2>\n<p>Injures to Lynch and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RawlTh00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Thomas Rawls<\/strong><\/a> late in 2015 prompted the Seahawks to bring Michael back. He had a standout performance in a Week 17 victory over\u00a0the <strong>Arizona Cardinals<\/strong>, as his first carry took the Seahawks deep into Cardinals territory.<\/p>\n<p>Early in 2016 the running back looked like he was vying to be a feature back, but after facing strong defensive lines as the season wore on,\u00a0it was clear he could not carry the load all by himself.\u00a0Monday morning coach Pete Carroll commented that Thomas Rawls was &#8220;practicing to play this week.&#8221; This move could signal they the team believes Rawls is 100% or close to it going forward. The recent emergence of rookie running back <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/ProsC.00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>C.J. Prosise<\/strong><\/a> certainly didn&#8217;t do Michael any favors either. With Rawls so close to returning, and Prosise becoming a key component of the Seahawks offense, Michael was clearly no longer a part of the backfield rotation.<\/p>\n<p>Also<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DougKyed\/status\/798658686944038912\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> released was defensive tackle <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SiliSe00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sealver Siligia<\/strong><\/a>. Siliga was a part of training camp for the Seahawks in 2013. After being waived, he signed with the <strong>New England Patriots<\/strong> and won a <strong>Super Bowl<\/strong>. He re-signed with Seattle during the 2016 off-season, but due to injuries was given an injury settlement before the season started.
