It was an ugly one, but at the end of it all, the Texans came out on top. Brock Osweiler couldn’t get anything going once again. He finished the game with only 99 yards through the air, his lowest total of the season. The Texans 24-21 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars did not come easy.

Houston Texans Week 10 Takeaways

Offense

In what has become a common theme this season, Brock Osweiler could not get anything going on offense. The Jaguars do boast a top 5 defense against the pass, but only 99 yards is unacceptable. However, Osweiler and the offense got the job done at the end of the day. He threw for two touchdown passes, connecting with Stephen Anderson and Ryan Griffin. Those were the only offensive touchdowns of the day for Houston. Lamar Miller found some room on the ground this week, gashing the Jaguars defense for a 45 yard run. A last minute tackle at the one yard line stopped him from reaching the end zone. The real bright spot of the offense this week was Akeem Hunt. Hunt was signed off the practice squad this week, and finished the game with 52 yards on eight carries, and one catch.

Defense

On the defensive side of the ball, Kareem Jackson‘s first quarter pick six was a game changer. It was the first score of the game, and put Houston up for good. The Texans defense did well overall, holding Jacksonville to ten points before the fourth quarter. Benardrick McKinney continued to rack up tackles, and has the ninth most so far this year. Locking Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns down is a hard enough task as it is. The Texans were already without Kevin Johnson before losing A.J Bouye to an ankle injury in practice. It’s been a breakout year for Bouye, and his presence was missed on Sunday.

Conclusion

The Houston Texans week ten victory was ugly, but it sure was sweet. Any time you can get a win in the National Football League, you have to be happy. Despite their struggles on offense and a number of key players out on defense, the Texans moved to 3-0 in the division.

Tune in next Monday, November 21st, as the Houston Texans take on the Oakland Raiders in Mexico City.
