The 26-year-old tore his MCL and dislocated his kneecap in late July. He elected not to have surgery and then attempted to return from the injury in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. In that game, Demarcus Lawrence fell into the side of Williams’ knee, re-aggravating the injury and ending Williams’ season. He was placed on injured reserve on September 12th after deciding to undergo knee surgery. Despite the injury, he was one of the better tackles on the free agency market this off-season.

Williams played sparingly as a rookie, starting two of the 10 regular season games he played in. The Panthers went to the Super Bowl that season, ultimately losing to the Denver Broncos. Williams saw time in the second half of the big game after guard Andrew Norwell suffered an injury.

In his second season, he started in 10 of the 13 games he played in. After Michael Oher suffered an injury in Week 4, Williams took hold of the right tackle job. He missed three games that season due to an ankle injury.

In 2017, Williams played his first full season, starting every game. He was a second-team All-Pro member that season, showing his potential.

Williams was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Panthers (102nd overall). He was the 20th offensive lineman selected in the draft.

He played his collegiate ball at the University of Oklahoma. He played four seasons there, taking over as a starter during his sophomore season and starting every game over his last two years. He was named first-team All-Big 12 after a dominant senior season.

Williams was a standout performer in football and track & field at Lake Dallas High School in Corinth, Texas. Rivals.com listed him as a four-star recruit when he committed to Oklahoma.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

2018 was a tough year for Daryl Williams, as he tore his MCL and dislocated his kneecap.
