Humpries has come a long way from humble beginnings to one of the top free agent wide receivers. Humpries went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, he accepted an invitation to attend rookie minicamp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Initially, he made the cut as a punt/kick returner and bounced from the active roster to the practice squad. Appearing in 15 games, Humphries finished his rookie season with 27 receptions for 260 yards and one touchdown.

The following season saw a coaching change and increased usage for the up-and-coming slot receiver. His sophomore season doubled his rookie season’s targets (83), yards (622), and touchdowns. He finished with 55 receptions and two scores to go along with a 66.3% catch rate. Early on it became apparent that Humphries makes the most of the targets he receives.

The 2017 season was similar in all statistical categories, solidifying his role as their primary slot receiver. The biggest change in that season’s production was the jump in catch rate. He finished with a career-high 73.5% that season. Otherwise, his statistical performance was very similar to the prior season.

The 2018 season was where Humphries was playing for his viewers and for his future contract. He continued his efficiency with targets and saw increases in most statistical categories. In a crowded receiving core that includes Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, Humpries continued to be involved. He set career bests in targets (105), receptions (76), receiving yards (816), and touchdowns with five. He managed all that while maintaining a 72.4% catch-rate. In all, Humphries entered free agency with 219 receptions for 2329 yards and nine touchdowns.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Wide receiver Adam Humphries has officially found a new home.
