What this organization has been doing for the last decade isn’t working. They need a coach that will get the most out of their talent. They need a coach that will be strict with his players and not allow for what we saw a couple weeks ago in Tennessee, where the team visibly quit. The Jaguars need Tom Coughlin.

Jacksonville Jaguars Need Tom Coughlin

Gus Bradley has preached “just get better” since he got here back in 2013. He didn’t like the idea of discussing winning and losing. Some people thought it was weird at the time as this is the NFL, it’s about wins and losses. Most looked past it though, as he had a very exciting personality that had you wanting to run into a wall for him. It was refreshing, it was something different, and there was hope in this organization that was much needed. His first couple years were rough, very rough. We were a talent starved team with a ton of youth though. So, let them gather more talent and see what he can do in 2015. It can only get better, right?

Wrong, Jacksonville went 5-11 with a promising offense but continued to play lost on defense, making for a bottom three defense in the NFL in 2015.

This year, year four of Bradley’s tenure, when everyone said “no more excuses, it’s time to win,” and the Jaguars sit at 2-7 and in the cellar of the worst division in football.

This mantra of “just get better” has become a sad joke to Jaguars fans. You see players playing completely undisciplined and going right back in the game afterwards. If you watched the game in Tennessee, you see a team that gave very little effort and got stomped in prime time by a division rival. That can’t happen. Not in year four.

Taking Responsibility

Shad Khan, Dave Caldwell, and Gus Bradley said prior to the season that this team had the talent to line up against anyone. Getting blown out by the Chargers and Titans and starting the season 2-7 is not what anyone envisioned. Someone has to take responsibility for it. The fans and the city of Jacksonville deserve much better than what the organization has given them.

Tom Coughlin is the guy that the Jaguars need to target. He will get the best out of this Jaguars team. He likely won’t be a long time fixture in Jacksonville which isn’t ideal. What he will do though is get this organization turned around and on the upward trajectory. The Jaguars haven’t been able to say that in a very, very long time. Over the next few years, he can groom someone to take the reins whenever he decides he doesn’t want to coach any longer. The Jaguars can’t afford to hire another head coach just for him to flop like Gus Bradley has. They need someone proven that can get this organization on the right track. That man should be Tom Coughlin if he’s at all coming back to Jacksonville.

Embed from Getty Images

The Jaguars have shown little if any improvement under Gus Bradley.
