After <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/12\/31\/miami-dolphins-fire-adam-gase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">losing his job<\/a> with the Dolphins following Week 17\u2019s season finale, the <a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/jets\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Jets<\/a> hired him to be the successor to <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BowlTo20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd Bowles<\/a><\/b>. According to reports, the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos were also interested in adding Gase to their coaching staff. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 19.5pt; line-height: 19.5pt; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Gase made his head coaching debut with the Dolphins back in 2016. During his first season at the helm, Gase led the Dolphins to a 10-6 record and their first playoff appearance since 2008. However, Miami has yet to return to the playoffs, recording just 13\u00a0wins over the past two seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 19.5pt; line-height: 19.5pt; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Prior to joining the Dolphins, Gase was seen as one of the best young offensive minds in football. Back in 2015, Gase served as offensive coordinator of the\u00a0<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/bears\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Bears<\/a>. During his lone year in Chicago, the Bears had the 23<\/span><sup style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">-ranked offense in terms of points-per-game. Quarterback\u00a0<strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CutlJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jay Cutler<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0threw for 3,659 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 19.5pt; line-height: 19.5pt; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Gase spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator for\u00a0<strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"><a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MannPe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peyton Manning<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/broncos\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denver Broncos<\/a>. Gase presided over one of the most prolific offenses in history, as the 2013 Broncos set a record for most points scored in a season. In two years with Gase, Manning threw for a combined 10,204 yards, 94 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions while winning earning an AFC championship following the 2013 season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 19.5pt; line-height: 19.5pt; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; box-sizing: border-box;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Prior to earning an offensive coordinator position, Gase served as an assistant coach for the\u00a0<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/lions\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Lions<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/49ers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a>. He also spent time coaching in the college ranks at Michigan State and LSU.
