The former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/phi\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> offensive coordinator saw his team get off to a rotten start this season, losing five of their first six games. Since then, the Colts have won four straight and are preparing to defeat the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/mia\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miami Dolphins<\/a>\u00a0at home to pick up a fifth straight win.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the Colts last six games look winnable. The week 14 trip to face the 7-3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/htx\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Houston Texans<\/a> looks like it will be the most difficult. Houston\u2019s terrific run of seven straight wins puts them in the AFC South driving-seat and two games ahead of the Colts. They key to Indianapolis making the playoffs is their offense.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Indianapolis Colts Offense the Key to Returning to the Postseason<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2>The Sixth Seed Picture<\/h2>\n<p>The Colts, at 5-5, have equal records to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/cin\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>, Miami Dolphins, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/oti\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tennessee Titans<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/rav\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baltimore Ravens<\/a>\u00a0and the Ravens currently occupy the sixth seed. But Baltimore&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2018\/11\/16\/baltimore-ravens-quarterback-issues-rumble-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">quarterback woes<\/a> are likely to see them fall away from the playoff picture. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JackLa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lamar Jackson<\/a><\/strong> is under center but the rookie is unproven. A win for the Colts on Sunday will put a small dent in Miami\u2019s playoff hopes. The 4-6 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/den\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Denver Broncos<\/a> deserve a mention in the picture. Their 22-20 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/sdg\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> in Week 11 will give them hope, however, that was a game they were lucky to win. The Chargers gave up 14 penalties for 120 yards and had chances to really put away the game.<\/p>\n<h2>Luck Chances His Arm<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LuckAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Luck<\/a><\/strong> is a quality quarterback. Colts fans may have been tentative about Luck\u2019s ability to shake off the shoulder injury that forced him to miss the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/eu.indystar.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/colts\/2017\/08\/16\/andrew-lucks-secret-pain-timeline-injury-colts-hid-more-than-year\/523709001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 season<\/a>, yet 2018 has been largely positive. Indy\u2019s offensive line have done an excellent job keeping their offensive architect upright. Luck was sacked 10 times through the first five weeks of the season, but since then he\u2018s operated out of a clean pocket.<\/p>\n<p>With 29 touchdowns under his belt this season, Luck is well on his way to surpassing his 2016 total of 31. Those with a solid memory will recall that Luck threw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LuckAn00\/gamelog\/2014\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">43<\/a> touchdown passes in the 2014 season, three of which were in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>This week\u2018s AFC Offensive Player-of-the-Week is none other than Andrew Luck.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think some things are clicking. I do think you could look back and say \u2018All right, we\u2019re making fewer mistakes.\u2019 I think we are shooting ourselves in the foot less now, but at the same time we know we can be even sharper today&#8221;. He\u2019s rushed for 471 yards on 94 attempts and four touchdowns.\u00a0 A hamstring injury kept Mack from competing early this year and his absence coincided with the Colts rough start to the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts have a capable receiving corps. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HiltT.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">T.Y. Hilton<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HiltT.00.htm#\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">38 receptions<\/a> for 585 yards and six touchdowns. Hilton torched the Titans for 158 yards on nine catches in Week 11. The wideout is on course for another 1,000 yard season. Prior to the 2012 NFL draft scouts questioned Hilton&#8217;s strength and whether or not he would get handled in press coverage. The reliable pass catcher has averaged 15.4 yards per catch in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Tight End <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EbroEr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Ebron<\/a><\/strong> is also having a productive season with nine touchdown receptions, a career high for the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/det\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Lions<\/a> player. Ebron has started a new chapter of his career and seems to be enjoying his football.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This offense allows me to get the match ups I want\u2014or that we want\u2014to make plays. The Lions offense was more given towards our wide receivers. That&#8217;s how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/StafMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Stafford<\/a> liked it. I feel here it&#8217;s more about the tight end.&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EbroEr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Ebron<\/a> to Bleacher Report).<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s up to offensive coordinator <strong>Nick Sirianni<\/strong> to keep the opposition guessing. His offense is the NFL\u2018s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/statistics\/team\/_\/stat\/downs\/sort\/thirdDownConvPct\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">league leader<\/a> on third down conversions.<\/p>\n<h2>In The Conversation<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LeonDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darius Leonard<\/a><\/strong> is the league leader with 104 solo tackles. If Indianapolis are to sustain a playoff challenge they must improve on both rush and pass defense. They\u2019re ranked 14th and 22nd, respectively.<\/p>\n<h2>Last Word<\/h2>\n<p>Football teams can often take longer than others to find their rhythm. Executing the game plan and a bit of luck will go some way to aiding a bid for the right to play postseason. football. And the Colts need to continue to rely on their offense to reach the postseason.
