Panthers fans everywhere started contacting the best cardiologists and therapists in town because the \u201cCardiac Cats\u201d were looking to make their return. Fortunately, MVP candidate <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=NewtCa00,NewtCa20&amp;search=Cam+Newton&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cam Newton<\/a><\/strong> threw a touchdown strike to Samuel to put the game on ice. Panthers fans could breathe once again.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Carolina Panthers Move to 6-2 After Knocking Off Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2>CaMVP<\/h2>\n<p>If you can watch Panthers games and still say that Cam Newton is average, you may just be delusional or just a hater.\u00a0He&#8217;s consistently\u00a0countering everything that critics had to say about him this past off-season and he&#8217;s looking good doing it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis completion percentage is too low.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newton completed 76 percent of his passes against the Bucs and he\u2019s currently sitting at a career-best, 67.3 percent completion rate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe turns the ball over too often.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cam has zero interceptions in his past three games and has only four on the year; with one being a drop and the other two being caused by rookie mistakes. Even with that in mind, he\u2019s 29th in the league for INTs thrown. The only starting quarterbacks that have thrown fewer interceptions than him are<strong> Philip Rivers<\/strong> (3), <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RyanMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Ryan<\/a><\/strong> (3), <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=SmitAl03,SmitAl02&amp;search=Alex+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Smith<\/a><\/strong> (3), <strong>Carson<\/strong> <strong>Wentz<\/strong> (2) and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BreeDr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drew Brees<\/a><\/strong> (1).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCam can only run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newton has a passer rating of 100.8, which is tied for 10th in the league with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WatsDe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deshaun Watson<\/a><\/strong>. This is also the highest rating he\u2019s had for a season in his career.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, you can make arguments for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MahoPa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Mahomes<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GurlTo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd Gurley<\/a><\/strong> winning the league MVP; but it wouldn\u2019t be wise to sleep on Newton winning his second MVP award after this season.<\/p>\n<h2>Seatbelts<\/h2>\n<p>If I told you before the game that the duo of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Bradberry<\/a><\/strong> and <b>Donte \u201cAction\u201d<\/b> <strong>Jackson<\/strong> would neutralize the Bucs elite receiving corps, you would\u2019ve called me crazy and told me to delete my Twitter account; but that\u2019s just what happened. Bradberry limited <strong>Mike<\/strong> <strong>Evans<\/strong> to one catch for 16 yards on seven targets and Jackson limited<strong> Desean Jackson<\/strong> to two catches for 32 yards and a game-sealing interception on a 50-50 ball.<\/p>\n<p>While fans are campaigning for Newton\u2019s MVP award, they\u2019re also campaigning for Jackson to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He currently leads the league in interceptions (four) and he\u2019s already tied the Panthers\u2019 record for the most interceptions in a season set by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=NormJo01,NormJo00&amp;search=Josh+Norman&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Norman<\/a><\/strong>\u2026 and there\u2019s still eight games left!<\/p>\n<p>The only problem with this secondary is that offenses are starting to expose the weakness in Carolina\u2019s secondary in<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MunnCa99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Captain Munnerlyn<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RiveRo20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Rivera<\/a><\/strong> usually favors veterans when it comes to playing time, but it may be time to involve a younger, stronger and faster <strong>Corn<\/strong> <strong>Elder<\/strong> in the defensive scheme. I\u2019m not implying that Munnerlyn gets benched for an entire game- that\u2019s ludicrous- but the snaps should be split at least 60-40 between the two. Otherwise, defenses will continue to expose the chink in Carolina\u2019s armor and cause a lot of damage on the scoreboard.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from that, the secondary has been stellar, and they will have a huge test next week against arguably the best wide receiver in the league,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=BrowAn04,BrowAn01&amp;search=Antonio+Brown&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Brown<\/a><\/strong> and his charismatic counterpart,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitJu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JuJu Smith-Schuster<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McDoVa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vance McDonald<\/a><\/strong> may have a field day if the tight end coverage doesn\u2019t improve; but Panthers fans have every reason to be confident heading into Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<h2>Catch Us If You Can<\/h2>\n<p>One major point for the Panthers these past few seasons is to get faster on both sides of the football &#8211; and they didn\u2019t disappoint. Samuel, McCaffrey and <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/04\/09\/dj-moore-2018-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>D.J.\u00a0Moore<\/strong><\/a> have been amazing in <strong>Norv Turner\u2019s<\/strong> systems and the best part is defenses just can\u2019t do anything about it.<\/p>\n<p>Moore broke off a 32-yard run early to set up a score, Samuel toyed with the defense on a double reverse for a 33-yard touchdown, McCaffrey slipped through defenders all game and even hurdled over one\u2026oh and he scored two touchdowns. This offense is living proof that speed kills.<\/p>\n<p>I wish <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitTo02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Torrey Smith<\/a><\/strong> a speedy recovery, but it may be in the best interest of the team if he doesn\u2019t get the amount of snaps he had prior to the injury when he returns to action. The chemistry between these guys is evident and we see that Cam believes in these guys to make plays and move the ball down the field effectively. The more they click, the more of a threat they are to other NFC powerhouses and if <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/ByrdDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Damiere Byrd<\/a><\/strong> ever gets in the mix, it\u2019s going to get ugly for defenses around the league.<\/p>\n<h3>Scoring Summary<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>First Quarter-<\/strong> <\/span><br \/>\nAlex Armah one-yard rushing touchdown (7-0 Carolina)<br \/>\nChristian McCaffrey three-yard rushing touchdown (14-0 Carolina)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Second Quarter-<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FitzRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Fitzpatrick<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0touchdown pass to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HowaO.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">O.J.
