In the years that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patriots.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> have fallen short of a Super Bowl, failure was\u00a0usually due to the line\u2019s inability to protect <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradTo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Brady<\/a><\/strong>. Last season was consistent with this trend. But with the return of long-time coach <strong>Dante Scarnecchia<\/strong> and a mix of unproven talent and\u00a0experienced presence, 2016\u2019s offensive line has great potential.<\/p>\n<h2>Dante Scarnecchia and Offensive Line Can Immortalize 2016 Patriots<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Left Tackle<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SoldNa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nate Solder<\/a><\/strong> has been the blind side tackle since the Pats drafted him 17<sup>th<\/sup> overall in 2011.\u00a0Solder was an ironman his first four seasons, starting 60 of 64 regular season games. He came up under Coach Scarnecchia during the veteran coach\u2019s first tenure with the team. There are occasional problems with his\u00a0footwork and quickness, but he has held his starting job his entire career.<\/p>\n<p>Solder tore his biceps Week 5 of last season and was placed on injured reserve. He was then placed on the physically unable to perform list by the team last week. He is expected to be ready for the regular season, but backup <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WaddLa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LaAdrian Waddle<\/a><\/strong> has filled in during his absence in training camp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No matter how good a quarterback is, he can only do so much behind a weak offensive line.
