The Dallas Cowboys<\/strong><\/a> fear that cornerback Morris Claiborne<\/a><\/strong> suffered a sports hernia, Marcus Mosher<\/strong> of footballogy.com reports. He left in the final minute of Sunday night’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles<\/strong> and did not return. If he needs surgery, he will most likely miss the remainder of the 2016 season.<\/p>\n

Also, in last night’s game, safety Barry Church<\/a><\/strong> suffered a fractured forearm, according to Vice President Stephen Jones<\/strong>.\u00a0He will be out 3-5 weeks, but will not undergo surgery.<\/p>\n

Dallas Cowboys Defense Suffers Setbacks\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The surgery would keep him out eight to ten weeks, but that is a minimum, according to Mosher. If Claiborne was to miss the remainder of the season, that would be a huge loss for the Dallas defense. He has recorded 31 tackles through the team’s first seven games this season. He’s also recorded one interceptions, four pass deflections and fumble recovery.<\/p>\n

While this is not the first injury Claiborne has suffered this season, it is the most serious. He suffered a concussion in their win against the Green Bay Packers back on Oct. 16.<\/p>\n

Church has also been a key part of the Dallas defense this season. He has recorded 45 tackles and two interceptions. One of those interceptions was a key play against the Washington Redskins<\/strong> in Week Two.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys secondary looks a bit banged up with the injuries suffered by these two star corners, but it’s not the end of the world just yet.<\/p>\n

R-E-L-A-X<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orlando Scandrick<\/a><\/strong> returned to the team last night after missing a month with a hamstring injury. J.J Wilcox would take over the safety position in place of Church should he require surgery. Wilcox has been an average safety over the course of his career and is reliable when it comes to making plays on defense.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys are currently sitting at 6-1 on the season. They are led by two offensive rookie superstars in Dak Prescott<\/a><\/strong> and Ezekiel Elliott<\/strong>. They have won six in a row after an opening loss to the New\u00a0York Giants. Their next game is on the road against the Cleveland Browns<\/strong> Sunday.<\/p>\n
