The team is capable of winning games, but just need to make a few adjustments. We need to look beyond the receiving corp to the running backs, where Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson Jr. are a rushing threat.

Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson Jr. Are A Rushing Threat

A quick note. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor avoids throwing downfield, which means the wide receiver corp that was constructed on the run-free-and-deep concept isn’t fully utilized. Add in a second-year tight end who’s drops too many balls, a rookie receiver who isn’t always reliable and another receiver who is no longer with the team, and we’re left with a running back situation that needs adjustments.

It’s Time to Bench Carlos Hyde

Carlos Hyde is a veteran “middle of the road running back”, says Martin McConnell of Dawg Pound Daily. The second-round pick from Ohio State is no longer the best back on the roster. Watch Hyde handle himself on the field, and one has to agree, it may be time to bench him.

Nick Chubb Has Speed Down the Middle

Nick Chubb is a rookie who’s already shown abundant potential as a bell-cow back early in the season. He clocked up 35 yards in just five attempts and was explosive against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Averaging seven yards a carry, it won’t be long before he starts recording touchdowns.

Duke Johnson Jr. Out Wide Is Ideal

While Chubb barrels down the middle of the field, Duke Johnson Jr. will do his thing down the sides.

Chubb runs with lightning speed, and Duke is a truly reliable receiving back. Placing him out wide adds another dimension that Hyde no longer provides.

This is why they’re a formidable dual threat. Together, Chubb and Duke will be a rushing attack that’s capable of reaping rewards for the Browns.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

It’s time to bench Carlos Hyde.
