Dallas drafted rookie wide receiver <a href=\"http:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2018\/03\/23\/michael-gallup-2018-nfl-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Michael Gallup<\/strong><\/a> from Colorado State in round three of the NFL Draft but still failed to acquire a top free agent wide receiver.\u00a0When you add in a tight end group with a grand total of nine career NFL receptions,\u00a0the personnel clearly supports the narrative that Elliott will be the featured offensive option.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Difficulty of Repeating as a Top-Five Fantasy Running Back<\/h2>\n<p>The fantasy running back position experiences extreme year-to-year volatility. Over the last ten years, very few players have produced consecutive top-five PPR finishes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Repeating as Top 5 Fantasy RB is not easy<\/p>\n<p>Here are PPR RBs who finished Top 5 in consecutive seasons last 10 yrs:<\/p>\n<p>M. Bell (16-17)<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; For The Numbers (@OldSchool0909) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OldSchool0909\/status\/1004083279438516225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 5, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the impact of randomness on these results, it is worth noting that only 16 percent (eight out of 50) running backs were able to repeat a top-five PPR performance.\u00a0 Only two running backs (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FostAr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arian Foster<\/a><\/strong> and<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LyncMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marshawn Lynch<\/a><\/strong>) were able to produce three years in a row, and none accomplished it four consecutive years. Selecting Todd Gurley or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BellLe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le&#8217;Veon Bell<\/a><\/strong> as the top overall pick should make fantasy drafters cautious. With only 10 games played last season, Elliott is completely fresh for the 2018 season while still only 22-years-old.<\/p>\n<h2>End of Season Fantasy Schedule<\/h2>\n<p>It is always an advantage to have your best players at home during the stretch drive of the fantasy season. They host the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/redskins\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington\u00a0Redskins<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/saints\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Orleans Saints<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/eagles\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/buccaneers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> during that time. While Philadelphia had a strong rushing defense last season, New Orleans and Tampa Bay were very mediocre, and Washington allowed the most rushing yards per game of any NFL team. Another observation from the above list? The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/cardinals\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/rams\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Rams<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/steelers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> are all not listed.<\/p>\n<h2>Summary<\/h2>\n<p>The first overall fantasy pick is both a blessing and a curse. Having the option of picking any fantasy player is great, but it cannot be a bust. With over 20 picks until the second round selection, a high fantasy floor is the most important criteria.
