Signature wins include a blowout win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week five and a win on the road over the Green Bay Packers in Week six.

Dak Prescott is the Answer to Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Situation

The Cowboys have started the season 5-1 and had wide receiver Terrance Williams gone out of bounds in Week one against the New York Giants they could be 6-0 right now. If Romo was healthy and playing, the Cowboys would not be 5-1. Jerry Jones needs to start Prescott the rest of the way.

Romo suffered a hairline fracture in his back in a preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. The team is hopeful that he can return after their bye week or by the week after at the latest.

Dallas shouldn’t rush Romo back to action though. Prescott is the perfect quarterback for this team, andhe is a much better fit than Romo. Starting Romo would put both him and the team in unnecessary jeopardy.

Since 2010 Romo has suffered a number of injuries that have caused him to miss many games. In 2015 he fractured his collarbone in Week two. The Cowboys finished the season 4-12 after a 2-0 start. Romo started two of those games. In his second start on Thanksgiving against the Carolina Panthers, he further injured his collarbone.

Not only that, but Romo always finds ways to blow games the Cowboys have a chance to win. A good example would be when the Cowboys were looking to win a playoff game in Seattle back in 2006. He fumbled the snap on a field goal. When he tried to run the ball into the end zone, he was tackled at the one yard line.

In 2008, the Cowboys were driving to win a divisional round playoff game against the Giants. Romo threw an interception in the end zone in the final seconds, ending the Cowboys season.

Prescott has already been in situations where he has had to lead his team down the field to victory, and he’s been successful in each attempt. Prescott even helped Dallas overcome a 14-0 deficit when Dallas played the San Francisco 49ers. Romo would have kept digging the Cowboys into the ground after going down 14-0.

Prescott is handling this uncomfortable situation in a very mature manner. He keeps telling the media that he knows that this is Romo’s team when he returns from injury. But Prescott should know that he is the better quarterback and that he should be the face of the franchise for the future.

Cowboys fans don’t understand why Jones wants to start Romo. Most fans believe that Prescott should remain the starter not just for the remainder of the 2016 season, but for several seasons to come. Prescott could lead Dallas to places they could never make it with Romo under center.

As for what Romo should do, he should retire. Health is much more important than risking injury and possibly permanently damaging his body. He has suffered many injuries throughout his nine seasons as the starting quarterback for the Cowboys.

Not only is it better for his health, but it’s also better for the team. He hasn’t led them past the divisional round since he took over in 2007. Prescott is the answer at quarterback for the Cowboys this season and in the future.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

The Dallas Cowboys will start quarterback Tony Romo when he is healthy.
