NFL Network&#8217;s <strong>Ian Rapoport<\/strong> is reporting that he&#8217;s inking a one-year deal worth $2.5 million and also receiving a $1 million signing bonus.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cowboys?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Cowboys<\/a> signed WR Deonte Thompson, per agent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidcanter?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@davidcanter<\/a>. He gets 1-year, $2.5M with a $1M signing bonus.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapSheet\/status\/976851466206969856?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 22, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Dallas Cowboys Sign Wide Receiver Deonte Thompson to a One-Year Deal<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Thompson was initially with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/bears\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Bears<\/a> in 2017. He played five regular season games with the team, registering 125 receiving yards and a touchdown grab before the team released him on October 11th. He then signed with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/bills\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Bills<\/a>\u00a0six days later and made his presence felt right off the bat.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/lwosonnfl.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/2017\/10\/20\/week-seven-buffalo-bills-keys-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Week Seven win<\/a> over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/buccaneers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>, Thompson caught four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. It marked just the second time in his career that he eclipsed 100 receiving yards in a game. He did so the previous season when he racked up 110 yards in the Bears&#8217; Week 15 contest against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/packers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Green Bay Packers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson proved a fairly reliable component of the receiving corps during his lone season in Buffalo. He finished third on the team, behind <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McCoLe01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeSean McCoy<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ClayCh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charles Clay<\/a><\/strong>, with 430 receiving yards. Combining both his stints with the Bears and Bills, last year, he ended the season with 555 receiving yards, the largest mark of his career thus far.<\/p>\n<p>The new deal Thompson signed with Dallas is a fairly significant upgrade in pay from what he made in 2017. The Bills signed him to a one-year, $775,000 contract upon joining the team last year. It marked the second time the team added Thompson to the roster midseason. Back in 2014, he came to the Bills in December after he was released by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/ravens\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baltimore Ravens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson went undrafted out of Florida in 2012 and later signed with the Ravens. He played in 13 games in Baltimore over the next two seasons, totaling 15 receptions and 147 receiving yards.
