An ACL injury sidelined him as a redshirt freshman during his first year in college but he later became known for his hard-hitting within his conference.

The Seahawks drafted Maxwell in the sixth round (173rd pick) of the 2011 NFL Draft. Before the draft, Maxwell was projected to be a late-round draft pick and some analysts believed he needed to transition to safety in order to be successful in the NFL. During Maxwell’s first four seasons in Seattle as a member of the Legion of Boom, he appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one.

In the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII win over the Denver Broncos, he had four tackles and a forced fumble, helping the team secure the game even after a multiple touchdown lead. In their Super Bowl XLIX loss to the New England Patriots, Maxwell recorded five tackles.

After Maxwell became a free agent in 2015, he signed a whopping six-year, $63 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. During his only season with the team, he recorded 64 total tackles and two interceptions. Maxwell was then traded to the Miami Dolphins nearly a year to the day he signed his deal with Philly in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso. Maxwell spent two seasons there, finishing with 61 total tackles and two interceptions. He was released after a year and a half with the team.

Maxwell re-joined the Legion of Boom when the Seahawks signed him for his eighth season in the league. Adding Maxwell also added depth to their deteriorating secondary. Maxwell finished 2017 with 38 total tackles and just a single interception. Seattle’s secondary will look quite a bit different in 2018, but Maxwell will remain in the mix after all.

Embed from Getty Images

Veteran cornerback Byron Maxwell has endured a rollercoaster past few years since being a part of the “Legion of Boom” secondary that helped lead the Seattle Seahawks to two straight Super Bowl appearances.

[36,32
246,7444
post-39437","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-seahawks","tag-nfl-news","tag-seattle-seahawks-roster
["GET
