An undefeated record, first place in the notorious battleground of the <\/span><b>NFC East<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a masterful start to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WentCa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carson Wentz<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s rookie campaign are the highlights of the Eagles accolades so far. The Eagles travel to face the <\/span><b>Detroit Lions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who have displayed some below average performances this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Philadelphia Eagles Week Five Keys to Victory<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contain Matthew\u00a0Stafford\u2019s Arm<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eagles continue to be plagued by the poor play of defensive backs, despite the overall fantastic play by the rest of the defense. Deep balls and short, outside passes are the usual sore thumbs for the Eagles defense and the Detroit offense will look to capitalize on it. The speed of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TateGo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Golden Tate<\/a><\/strong>, the deep threat of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?search=Marvin+Jones&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marvin Jones<\/a><\/strong>, and the reliability of veteran, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BoldAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anquan Boldin<\/a><\/strong> are all viable options for <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/StafMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Stafford<\/a><\/strong> to utilize in picking apart the Eagles secondary. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stafford is having a surprisingly successful season thus far, ranking sixth in passing yards with seven touchdowns. This season, Stafford has made use of running backs coming out of the backfield and tight end matchups in his favor. Running back <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RiddTh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Theo Riddick<\/a><\/strong> and tight end <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EbroEr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Ebron<\/a><\/strong> rank second and third on the team in receptions and receiving yards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veteran safety <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JenkMa99.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malcom Jenkins<\/a> <\/strong>will have to step up for the Eagles secondary. Stafford is known to take some shots down the field and he has proven he is not afraid to tuck the ball and escape the pocket if needed. Jenkins will have to run the whole defense from afar to keep everyone in check.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take Advantage of Detroit\u2019s Lackluster Running Game<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bottom third of the league is where the Detroit running game sits in the rankings. Theo Riddick receives most of the action running the ball, despite him regularly sharing snaps with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AbduAm00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ameer Abdullah<\/a><\/strong>, prior to Abdullah&#8217;s injury. The offensive line can receive partial blame for the bad play of the running game and their job will not be any easier this week, as the Eagles bring in one of the <\/span><b>NFL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s top defensive lines. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CoxxFl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fletcher Cox<\/a><\/strong> headlines the line crew, along with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LogaBe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bennie Logan<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrahBr99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Graham<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarwCo99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Barwin<\/a><\/strong>. Cox and Graham have accounted for three sacks a piece so far and they look to add to that total Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The play of the Eagles linebackers has been below par up to this point and the latest distractions from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradNi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nigel Bradham<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0are not helping the cause. Though their play as a group has not been eye popping, it will not be a big factor in stopping the struggling Detroit running game<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Convert Red Zone Touchdowns<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A good way to predict the winner of a game early in the first half is to look at the red zone scoring. Teams who fail to punch in touchdowns from inside the twenty yard line,and resort to kicking short field goals typically fall behind on the scoreboard rather quickly, and do not catch up. With the defensive linemen\u2019s shadows in the endzone, most teams turn to the running game to put up six points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eagles need to capitalize on their red zone appearances and score touchdowns, and not rely on the foot of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SturCa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caleb Sturgis<\/a><\/strong>. Running the ball close to the goal line will be difficult however, as Detroit is one of only two teams to not surrender a rushing touchdown on the season, though their defense ranks towards the bottom of the league in most categories. The Eagles rank tenth in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFL running the ball, and prior to Week Three, delegated most of the carries to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MathRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Mathews<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0while other backs like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarnKe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kenjon Barner<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SproDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darren Sproles<\/a><\/strong>, and rookie <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmalWe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wendell Smallwood<\/a> <\/strong>supplied supportive roles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the Eagles rested during their early bye week, they have come back hungry to continue their shocking season.
