Brown was the executive for the Browns over the past two years, seeing only a singular win. Head coach Hue Jackson has been informed he will stay for the 2018 season. The firing of Brown is only the beginning of firings as more personnel in the front office are expected to be let go.

Cleveland Browns Fire Sashi Brown, Begin Cleaning out Front Office

In a statement on Thursday afternoon, Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam informed executive Sashi Brown he had been relieved of his duties. Head coach Hue Jackson was given confidence enough to stay throughout the 2018 season. However, per Adam Schefter and reading into Haslam’s quote, “We have begun the process of having productive conversation regarding leadership of our football operation and will provide further updates when appropriate,” the Browns are expected to fire more personal throughout the day.

The firing was not entirely unexpected. The Browns front office has been the scrutiny of several incidents, ranging from the 2017 NFL Draft to botched trades. During the first round of the NFL Draft, rumours indicated there was disputes between the coaching staff and personnel department on drafting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky or DeShone Kizer. The Browns ultimately skipped on Trubisky, as he was selected by the Chicago Bears. Kizer was selected with the 52nd overall pick, and has since gone to completing 52.5 percent of passes for 2,038 yards without a win.

In early November, the Browns attempted to trade for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron. However, reports indicated that the trade fell through after the Browns front office failed to report the deal to the NFL office by the deadline.

The Browns will now be looking to build consistency and stability in their front office. A bevy of rumours are floating around for whom they are looking at, with former Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey taking the lead.

Haslam thanked Brown for his tenure in the Cleveland Browns in his public statement,

“We have great appreciation and gratitude for Sashi’s commitment and leadership to our organization but believe transitioning to someone with strong experience and success in drafting and building consistently wining football teams is critical to the future of the Cleveland Browns.”

Main Image:

Embed from Getty Images

Cleveland Browns fire Sashi Brown: In a Thursday morning statement, the 0-12 Browns have relieved Sashi Brown of his duties, beginning a house cleaning.

[8,2,36
1724,264,1793,61,758,3399,1591,40,2438
post-34904","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-browns","category-featured","category-nfl-news","tag-a-j-mccarron","tag-cleveland-browns","tag-deshone-kizer","tag-football","tag-hue-jackson","tag-jimmy-haslam","tag-john-dorsey","tag-nfl","tag-sashi-brown
["GET
