The Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> have signed veteran cornerback<\/a> Darrelle Revis<\/a> <\/strong>on Wednseday afternoon. The Chiefs will be turning toward 10 years of experience and seven Pro Bowls in order to bolster what has become the 28th<\/sup> ranked pass defense in the NFL. Revis most recently played for the New York Jets<\/a> in 2016, but was cut for contract reasons. He drew interest from several teams in the off-season, but did not end up on a squad per sources stating he was looking for too much money. The Chiefs will be the team hoping Revis recreates \u2018Revis Island\u2019 for the remainder of the 2017 campaign.<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs Sign Veteran Cornerback Darrelle Revis<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Darrell Revis to their active roster to assist in cornerback duties. The Chiefs have been suffering from inconsistent play across Marcus Peters<\/a><\/strong>, leading to the league\u2019s 28th<\/sup> ranked pass defense. Safety Eric Berry<\/a>\u2019s <\/strong>season ending injury has been more than a mere loss of physical prowess, but also a loss of veteran prose.<\/p>\n

\u201cDarrelle [Revis] is a proven player in this league and we are excited to add him to our secondary,\u201d general manager Brett Veach<\/strong> stated on Wednesday afternoon. \u201cHe\u2019s had a Hall of Fame career and his leadership and playing experience will be valuable to our defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to add Darrelle to the roster,\u201d commented head coach Andy Reid<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cHe has experience and familiarity with Bob Sutton\u2019s<\/strong> defense, he\u2019s a team guy and we feel like a player of his caliber can help our football team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Revis brings in 10 years of experience, including seven pro-bowls. Most of his career was seen with the New York Jets, but he also continued a pro-bowl tenure in seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> (2013) and New England Patriots<\/a> (2014). After winning Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots, he returned to the Jets in 2015 for a final pro-bowl trip. Unfortunately, after a down year in 2016, was cut due to his hefty contract.<\/p>\n

Overcoming age will be Revis\u2019 task; he still produced 43 tackles in 2016 despite slowing down. Even with a drop-in speed, Revis\u2019 renowned work ethic will find him a fit in either a floating coverage nickel back spot or the corner opposite Peters. In his career, Revis has netted 137 passes defended, 29 interceptions, and 485 tackles.<\/p>\n
