He wasn’t the most celebrated of wide receiver picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, but has been head and shoulders above his peers. Through four weeks, he is leading the Houston Texans in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns.

Will Fuller Is Going to Be a Star

Entering the draft, there were plenty of concerns about Will Fuller. Specifically, his dropping problem. This problem reared it’s ugly head, and was on full display in the Texans week one game against the Bears. Streaking down field behind the Bears defense, he dropped a wide open pass that would have surely went for a touchdown. Since then, however, he has done quite well catching passes.

Speed was always the most enticing trait of Fuller, and it has worked to his advantage. In their week four game against the Tennessee Titans, the Texans were ahead, but not by much. After starting off the game strong with two touchdowns in the first quarter, the Texans offense started to sputter. Slowly, but surely the Titans started their comeback. Tied at 20-20 by the end of the third quarter, the Texans needed a spark. Enter Will Fuller. On fourth down, the Titans punted the ball and Fuller got it on the Texans 33 yard line. The rest of the play took about four seconds before Fuller was gliding into the end-zone. It was electric, and exactly what the Texans needed at that point in the game. The crowd was deflated, and the atmosphere was one of worry; would the Texans cling on to victory? Fuller had the answer to that, as his touchdown put the Texans up 27-20, and would prove to be the game winning play.

Four wide receivers were drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft: Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, and Laquon Treadwell. So far, Fuller has been the best amongst his peers. Out of the four, Fuller is the only one who has consistently made plays for his team. Coleman, and Doctson only have nine receptions combined. Meanwhile, Treadwell is buried on the Minnesota Vikings roster, and hasn’t seen even one target. It’s still early on in their careers, and there’s no way you can judge a player on only four games, but so far Fuller has looked the best.

Look for Will Fuller, and the Houston Texans to face off against the stifling Minnesota Vikings defense on October 9th. The game will be broadcast on CBS at 12pm CST, and will be held at U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Embed from Getty Images

Will Fuller is going to be a star in the NFL.
