The week two, home victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/vikings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Vikings<\/a> 26-9 provided a myriad of Steelers positional grades on offense, and a resounding A on defense.<\/p>\n<h2>Week Two Pittsburgh Steelers Positional Grades<\/h2>\n<h3>Quarterback: B<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RoetBe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Roethlisberger<\/a><\/strong> finished with 243 yards passing and two touchdowns. Roethlisberger completed 23 passes on 35 attempts. Most importantly, he didn&#8217;t throw any interceptions this week.<\/p>\n<p>Roethlisberger seemed to be looking for the deep ball a lot, mainly because he didn&#8217;t have much time in the pocket. Six of his 12 incompletions were thrown in the direction of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=BrowAn04,BrowAn01&amp;search=Antonio+Brown&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Brown<\/a><\/strong>, which makes one wonder if Roethlisberger is focusing on Brown a little too much.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Roethlisberger got the job done and did what was needed in order to secure the win.<\/p>\n<h3>Running Backs: C<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BellLe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le&#8217;Veon Bell<\/a><\/strong> was hoping for some more action in week two after only carrying the ball ten times in week one. He got his carries, but didn&#8217;t have much to show for them. Bell carried the ball 27 times for 87 yards, giving him an average of 3.2 yards per carry.<\/p>\n<p>Bell was dealing with one of the premier defenses in the NFL and didn&#8217;t get much help from his blockers; but still, the Steelers are surely expecting more out of him. Expect Bell to break out in week three against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/bears\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Bears<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ConnJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Conner<\/a><\/strong> only had one carry for nine yards and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WatsTe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Terrell Watson<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>carried the ball once as well for only one yard.<\/p>\n<h3>Wide Receivers: B<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=BrowAn04,BrowAn01&amp;search=Antonio+Brown&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Brown<\/a> led the way once again for the Steelers wide receivers. Brown had five catches on 11 targets for 62 yards.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BryaMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martavis Bryant<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>looked much better than he did in week one, catching a 27 yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger. He also caught a 51 yard pass on an offside penalty against the Vikings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RogeEl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eli Rogers<\/a><\/strong> added four catches on seven targets for 43 yards and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitJu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JuJu Smith-Schuster<\/a><\/strong> caught his first career touchdown pass. Smith-Schuster finished with three receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n<h3>Tight Ends: B+<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McDoVa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vance McDonald<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>was inactive for this game, which left the workload to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=JameJe00,JameJe21&amp;search=Jesse+James&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesse James<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrimXa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Xavier Grimble<\/a><\/strong>. James carried the bulk of the workload and did a good job for being Roethlisberger&#8217;s only reliable target at tight end.<\/p>\n<p>James finished with four catches on five targets for 27 yards. While he didn&#8217;t put up big numbers, James was crucial to getting first downs and helping chip-block the Vikings pass rushers.<\/p>\n<h3>Offensive Linemen: C-<\/h3>\n<p>The Steelers weakest link through two games is undoubtedly the offensive line. On top of only gaining 102 rushing yards, the offensive line also allowed two sacks on Roethlisberger.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PounMa20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maurkice Pouncey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DeCaDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David DeCastro<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FostRa21.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ramon Foster<\/a><\/strong> are supposed to be some of the best interior linemen in the NFL, but 3.2 yards per carry doesn&#8217;t cut it. Fans were disappointed with Bell&#8217;s performance, but ultimately, the offensive line has to step it up in order to get the running game going.<\/p>\n<h3>Defensive Linemen: A-<\/h3>\n<p>The defensive line looked excellent against the Vikings.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HargJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Javon Hargrave<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>didn&#8217;t record any tackles, but was constantly applying pressure to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KeenCa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Case Keenum<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HeywCa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cameron Heyward<\/a><\/strong> led the way with six tackles, and 1.5 tackles for a loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AluaTy99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyson Alualu<\/a><\/strong> was probably the best off-season acquisition that the Steelers made. As <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TuitSt00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephon Tuitt<\/a><\/strong> was out with a biceps injury, Alualu stepped in and filled the void. The defensive line didn&#8217;t miss a beat. Alualu added three tackles and the Vikings were only able to rush for 91 yards.<\/p>\n<h3>Linebackers: A<\/h3>\n<p>After <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WattT.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">T.J. Watt<\/a><\/strong> exited the game with a groin injury, many were surprised to see\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ChicAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Chickillo<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>replace him instead of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HarrJa23.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Harrison<\/a>.<\/strong> Chickillo didn&#8217;t disappoint, finishing with five tackles and a half tackle for a loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/ShazRy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Shazier<\/a><\/strong> led the way with eight tackles and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=WillVi01,WillVi00&amp;search=Vince+Williams&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vince Williams<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>added four tackles and a sack.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DuprAl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bud Dupree<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>made his first start of the season and seemed to be creating pressure constantly. He finished with two tackles and a sack. Watt had two tackles and a half tackle for a loss before he left the game.<\/p>\n<h3>Cornerbacks: B+<\/h3>\n<p>The Steelers secondary looked much better than they did in week one, holding the Vikings to only 146 passing yards for an average of 3.7 yards per passing play.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HiltMi01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Hilton<\/a><\/strong> caused chaos by moving all over the field by lining up in the box, outside and in the slot. He finished with nine tackles which led the team.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DiggSt00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stefon Diggs<\/a><\/strong> was held to only two catches for 27 yards just a week after he torched the New Orleans Saints defense for two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=GayxWi99,GayxWi20&amp;search=William+Gay&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">William Gay<\/a><\/strong> added three tackles.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BurnAr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artie Burns<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>also had three tackles and one tackle for a loss.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HadeJo99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Haden<\/a><\/strong> finished with just one tackle, but continues to look more and more comfortable in the Steelers zone defense.<\/p>\n<h3>Safeties: B+<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DaviSe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Davis<\/a><\/strong> had a great game with eight tackles. He helped defend against the run by moving up into the box and letting\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MitcMi99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Mitchell<\/a><\/strong> stay back and defend the center of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell had two tackles and broke up a crucial deep pass to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RudoKy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Rudolph<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Special Teams: A-<\/h3>\n<p>There weren&#8217;t any memorable kick or punt returns in this game, but\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BoswCh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Boswell<\/a><\/strong> made all four of the field goals that he attempted. Boswell was responsible for 14 of the Steelers 26 points.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MataTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Matakevich<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>made another key play on special teams a week after he blocked a punt that led to a defensive touchdown. The Vikings decided to try a fake punt, but Matakevich was in perfect position and broke up the &#8220;lame duck&#8221; pass thrown by the punter.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BerrJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Berry<\/a><\/strong> punted five times for an average of 38.6 yards.
