With eight seconds left in the fourth quarter, Carson found<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AghoNe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Nelson Agholor<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the end zone to cut Kansas City&#8217;s lead to seven. Living on a prayer, the Eagles would then win an onside kick attempt giving the Eagles a shimmer of hope &#8212; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a last-second hail marry didn&#8217;t find an Eagles receiver and the game ended. It was a tough loss but losing on the road to an AFC team shouldn&#8217;t affect the playoff picture too much come December though. Regardless, here are some knee-jerk reactions to the game!<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>Week Two Philadelphia Eagles Takeaways<\/h1>\n<h2>The Pass-Rush and the Secondary Exceed Expectations<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There may have been some tackling issues in the second half, but the Eagles front-seven put some serious pressure on Chiefs quarterback<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=SmitAl03,SmitAl02&amp;search=Alex+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Alex Smith<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all game. The potent combination of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrahBr99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Brandon Graham<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CoxxFl00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Fletcher Cox<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span>Tim Jernigan<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CurrVi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Vinny Curry<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was expected to play well. It did. Jim Schwartz has to be proud of this unit&#8217;s progress since last season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As great as the defensive line was though, the secondary might have been the real star of the game &#8212;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when you consider the circumstances.<\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McLeRo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Rodney McLeod<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WatkJa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Jaylen Watkins<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> went down with injuries very early in the game. Neither returned. Rookie <\/span>Rasul Douglas<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and free agent<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GrahCo99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Corey Graham<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played in their steads. As soon as Douglas entered the lineup he was tested by a short pass from Smith. Douglas tackled superstar<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HillTy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Tyreek Hill<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> immediately. A lot was asked of the rookie and he met the challenge; Hill finished with less than 50 yards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eagles secondary was a problem area coming into this game, but they allowed only 232 yards. A lot, yes, but the Chiefs had 352 yards on the road last week. Bonus note:<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MillJa02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Jalen Mills<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been great so far this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Eagles Receivers Aren&#8217;t a Problem Anymore<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nelson Agholor wasn&#8217;t as involved in the passing game as he was last week, but his touchdown reception nearing the end of the game was clutch. And saying &#8220;Nelson Agholor is clutch&#8221; is a very welcome surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another welcome surprise? Both <\/span>Alshon Jeffrey<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitTo02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Torrey Smith<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made plays today. There are still hiccups to be addressed, but the Eagles may have at least three solid receivers on the roster. Don&#8217;t discount rookie <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HollMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Mack Hollins<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">either. He had a fantastic special teams tackle and at least two first down catches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Howie Roseman got Carson some legitimate weapons in the offseason. Look for those connections to improve as the team builds chemistry.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Run Game <i>Must <\/i>Improve<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BlouLe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>LeGarrette Blount<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">might as well have been a healthy scratch today. One reception for zero gain isn&#8217;t exactly a good stat line. Still, the Eagles did show improvement. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SproDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Darren Sproles<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led the backfield today and didn&#8217;t show his age. His fumble at the end of the first half definitely hurt Philly, but he had more than a few first-down runs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite Sproles leading the backfield, he wasn&#8217;t the Eagles&#8217; leading rusher. Carson Wentz took home that distinction with four scrambles for 55 yards. Sproles did rush for 4.8 yards-per-carry but didn&#8217;t see the ball much in the second half. It&#8217;s clear the running game isn&#8217;t where it&#8217;s supposed to be. Don&#8217;t be surprised if<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ClemCo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Corey Clement<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmalWe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Wendell Smallwood<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> get more involved next week. Carson can&#8217;t throw 40-plus passes every game<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Ultimate Verdict<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though the Eagles lost today, there was still a lot to be happy about. Philly nearly tied the game with five seconds left. That&#8217;s a lot better than what New England did in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/patriots\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New England<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> did in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their own<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stadium last week.
