As their brutal schedule dictates, Todd Bowles‘ team will face the Seattle Seahawks and their top-rated defense on Sunday. This is a winnable game for Gang Green, in large part due to the health of Russell Wilson.

New York Jets Week Four Keys to Victory

Limit the Mistakes

Let’s start with the obvious. Last week, the Jets had one of their sloppiest games in recent memory. Two red zone interceptions and a fumble returned for a touchdown topped off an eight turnover meltdown. Likely, this game was little more than an outlier, with the Jets playing relatively mistake-free their first two weeks. If Ryan Fitzpatrick and company play mistake-free football, the Jets should have a shot against a very good team at home. If not, it’ll be another long day for gang green.

Get Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker Involved

58 yards. That’s all Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker had last week, after a dominant performance in Buffalo. If the Jets want to win, the offense needs to revolve around these Pro Bowl receivers. Last year, the two were arguably the best duo in the league, and the Jets reaped the benefits. If the Jets want to reciprocate last year’s success in the passing game, they need Marshall and Decker to get going.

Score Touchdowns in the Red Zone

Last year, the Jets had the third-best red zone offense in the league, scoring touchdowns on 66% of their trips. This year, however, the Jets have only a 38% conversion rate, the fifth worst in the league. I have no doubt they can right the ship, as weapons such as Decker, Marshall, and Matt Forte only increase in value inside the 20. However, I agree with Marshall’s assessment of Chan Gailey‘s play-calling. Why have Fitz throw the ball three times in a row in the area of the field hardest to complete passes in when Matt Forte is at your disposal? If the Jets balance their play-calling, they will solve their early-season red zone woes.

Embed from Getty Images

If Fitzpatrick plays mistake-free football, the Jets should have a shot against a very good team at home.
