The New Orleans Saints could agree in the latest NFL rumors to send former five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara to the Seattle Seahawks before Week 1. Jeremy Brener of SI proposed<\/a> the idea of Kamara joining the former Super Bowl champions to help stabilize the running group for Sam Darnold and this offense. After losing Kenneth Walker to Kansas City this offseason, the Seahawks haven’t found a true RB1. Despite that, the team signed rotational back Emanuel Wilson while taking Jadarian Price<\/a> late in the first round of the NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to see why the Seahawks could use some bolstering of the backfield. The team will rotate between Price, Wilson and George Holani, but Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald mentioned<\/a> last month that he anticipates that Zach Charbonnet will start the regular season. After this year’s training camp, if the Seahawks feel like neither Price nor Charbonnet is ready for the full-time role, they could consider Kamara.<\/p>\n

However, this is something to watch as the weeks roll by. Meanwhile, the Saints are expected to make a decision on the long-time RB at least before the regular season opener. The team signed Travis Etienne to a long-term contract, and with the Saints getting younger on offense, it’d make sense to move in a different direction.<\/p>\n

What’s the Holdup?<\/h3>\n

New Orleans isn’t in a rush to move the veteran this offseason. They’d want to see how he fits into the run game behind Etienne, and see if he’s the same back he used to be, which is unlikely. Last season, the RB hauled in just 131 carries for 471 yards and one touchdown, paired with 33 receptions for 186 yards across 11 total appearances. After missing the rest of the games with an MCL sprain, he’s not as durable as before.<\/p>\n

If he doesn’t generate interest before Week 1, no one should be surprised if he’s released, too. The Seahawks are the best landing spot for Kamara, who is looking to win a ring before he retires. Although he mentioned that he would retire rather than play anyone else, no one’s a fool. He’s definitely going to play for a different team if it means chasing a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

If the Saints and Seahawks agree to a trade, many could see a deal that would require a fifth- and sixth-round pick at best. Seattle isn’t paying more than a fourth-round selection for the veteran. While the Seahawks are one destination, here are three teams monitoring the RB.<\/p>\n

Denver Broncos<\/h4>\n

Reuniting with former Saints head coach Sean Payton<\/a> might be the best route for Kamara. If the Saints cut the veteran, he’d probably change his mind and be open to a one-year deal to run it back for a potential Super Bowl. Last season, the Broncos were close to the Lombardi Trophy, but lost Bo Nix after the Divisional Round to a season-ending injury. Now, the team has done significant upgrades this offseason, including trading for WR Jaylen Waddle.<\/p>\n

Although they re-signed veteran JK Dobbins to a two-year deal<\/a>, they could entertain bringing in the Saints RB. RJ Harvey held down this unit while Dobbins dealt with injuries, but if they struggle with Dobbins, they could execute a perfect 1-2 punch.<\/p>\n

Dallas Cowboys<\/h4>\n

Meanwhile, the Cowboys landing Kamara would also be a no-brainer, especially for Jerry Jones<\/a> looking to nail a significant trade during the 2026 season. The RB won’t join before the season, but if Jaydon Blue and Malik Davis can’t fulfill their duties as a reliable back, they could look at other options. It doesn’t mean that Javonte Williams<\/a> will lose his starting job, but the offense will do what they can to help Dak Prescott and the anticipated ferocious pass-attack on the ground.<\/p>\n

Baltimore Ravens<\/h4>\n

Another intriguing destination for Kamara would be Derrick Henry and this fast-paced offense. QB Lamar Jackson<\/a> is entering a pivotal season under first-year head coach Jesse Minter.
