Colton Hood, Cornerback<\/h3>\n

With the 37th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the Giants selected Colton Hood<\/a> out of Tennessee. The rookie cornerback was one of seventeen players invited to the green room for the first round of the NFL draft. However, Hood had to wait until the second round to hear his name called. He should enter the league with a chip on his shoulder because of it. On the team’s current depth chart, Hood is listed as a backup.<\/p>\n

However, the rookie can use the New York Giants Training Camp as a springboard for his professional career. As of early July, Paulson Adebo is the only cornerback who is likely locked in as a starter. New York’s cornerback two position is up for grabs. Darius Alexander, Defensive Line<\/h3>\n

New York’s interior defensive line has a brand-new look heading into the upcoming season. First off, the Giants traded veteran Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>. Additionally, the team lost Roy Robertson-Harris after he suffered a torn Achilles in the spring. Several veteran defensive linemen have been added to the roster ahead of the 2026 season. However, one second-year defensive lineman is a projected starter and still has a lot left to prove.<\/p>\n

Darius Alexander was a third-round pick by the Giants in 2025 out of Toledo. Alexander played in 16 of New York’s 17 games last season and made two starts. He finished the year with three-and-a-half sacks, 20 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits. The 25-year-old was on the field for 38% of the team’s defensive snaps in 2025.
