Originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys, the Alabama product led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021 and followed that up with a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. However, he’s battled injuries and inconsistency since then and has never played in more than 11 games in a single season. After starting the 2025 season with the Cowboys, the team released him, and he briefly cameoed with the Green Bay Packers late in the season.

Now a free agent, Trevon Diggs has not drawn much public interest on the open market, but that could change in the coming days. Injuries may have taken away the physical gifts that made him so special early in his career, but he represents a low-risk, medium-reward opportunity for a team looking to add more help in the secondary. While several teams could use another cornerback, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes the Las Vegas Raiders should be the team to pursue the veteran.

“The Raiders are entering a new era with head coach Klint Kubiak and quarterback Fernando Mendoza,” Knox writes. “However, they aren’t expected to be top-tier AFC contenders right away. If he can stay healthy and play with more consistency, Diggs could boost the impact potential of a defense taht recorded just eight interceptions last season.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBxAm97Wvy" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4127px; aspect-ratio: 4127/2752;" ></smartframe-embed>

Raiders Projected to Sign Trevon Diggs

The Las Vegas Raiders added a lot of talent in the offseason and upgraded their head coach from the aging Pete Carroll to one of the game’s ascending minds in former Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. However, they have the misfortune of playing in arguably the league’s toughest division. The Denver Broncos could have made the Super Bowl if quarterback Bo Nix hadn’t suffered an ankle injury; the Los Angeles Chargers are dangerous when healthy, and the Kansas City Chiefs have been the NFL’s team to beat for most of the past decade.

This team needs all the talent it can find to compete, and Trevon Diggs makes perfect sense as a low-risk, high-reward signing. As Knox mentioned, the Raiders had trouble with turnovers last year, and Diggs has a great nose for the ball. Even if his coverage skills have dropped off, he could help the team record more interceptions and bring a much-needed big-play element to this defense.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Trevon Diggs is only entering his age-28 season. While that does put him on the older side by NFL standards, it’s not like he’s a walking corpse. If he can overcome his injury woes (an admittedly big ‘if’), he should have a few years of good football left in his tank. This is admittedly a long shot, but it’s within the realm of possibility, and the Raiders have nothing to lose by adding him.

The Money Aspect

The Las Vegas Raiders do not have a perfect roster, but they probably don’t have the money to make any massive additions. The team spent big in the legal tampering period of free agency in large part because they believed they wouldn’t be on the hook for Maxx Crosby’s contract. However, once the Baltimore Ravens backed out of the deal, Vegas had to pay Crosby’s deal and chose to honor the agreements they made with players like Tyler Linderbaum, Quay Walker, and Qwity Paye.

With this in mind, the Raiders probably need to be smart with their remaining finances. Trevon Diggs has starting potential, but it shouldn’t take much guaranteed money to bring him to Nevada. At this point, he’s well worth the upside.

Trevon Diggs is still a free agent, but the Las Vegas Raiders could make a low-risk, high-reward investment in the veteran cornerback

[36,19,6431
7399,5267
post-291151","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-cowboys","category-nfl-teams","tag-las-vegas-raiders-news","tag-trevon-diggs
["GET
