He was the third-best running back in the 2022 recruiting class and considered a four-star recruit overall, according to 24/7 Sports. His skill and performance in high school led to scholarship offers from numerous prestigious programs like the LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks and Tennessee Volunteers.

He originally committed to the Oklahoma Sooners but after Lincoln Riley departed for the USC Trojans, Brown followed suit and landed with the Trojans.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBAxppKx1A" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5400px; aspect-ratio: 5400/4042;" ></smartframe-embed>

As a true freshman, he would appear in all 14 games as an explosive change-of-pace running back and as a returner on kickoffs. He punched in three touchdowns on the ground and another three through the air as a receiver while his production as a returner ranked 22nd in the nation.

In 2023, Brown made a bit of a questionable position change. He opted to spend the fall training as a wide receiver and eventually made the move heading into his true sophomore season. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan for Brown or the Trojans. He posted just three receptions over two games and ended up redshirting the season. The move to receiver would lead to an exit from USC via the transfer portal.

It wasn’t until this past season that Arizona State received production from Brown. After landing with the Sun Devils prior to the 2024 season, Brown led the team in rushing yards with 1,141 and averaged 120.5 all-purpose yards per game in 2025. Against the Colorado Buffaloes, his 255 yards set a program record for rushing yards in a road game.

Best Tools for Raleek Brown

Impressive speed to split defenders with the potential to turn small gains into touchdowns; backside defenders struggle to consistently chase him down

Slippery against engaged defenders who grasp or attempt arm tackles on him; great job maintaining speed and balance when encountering these situations

Love his ability to set up blockers and utilize subtle hesitations/tempo throughout his run that forces defenders to collapse

Natural hands as a receiver out of the backfield with explosion after planting his foot in the ground to generate separation and stay explosive after the catch

No idea if this is a hot take but I can see Raleek Brown being one of, if not my favorite RB in the 2027 class by January pic.twitter.com/JLal3dvE3O

— Eli Berkovits (@BookOfEli_NFL) May 23, 2026

Tools to Improve for Raleek Brown

Limited as a gap scheme runner or short-yardage runner with little ability to push piles due to below-average leg drive and overall strength

Is not the kind of running back to finish plays with his shoulder in the chest of the defender; shies away from contact at the second level

Will never be effective as a pass protector at the NFL level; struggles to locate “hot” defenders and never anchors consistently due to size limitations and technique

Front offices and NFL coaches will see him as a “design” running back who will require specific plays and packages in order to be effective at the next level

Early Player Summary

Raleek Brown is one of the most explosive running backs in college football and he will be incredibly fun to watch in the Texas Longhorns’ offense this season. While explosive, his 5-foot-9, 191-pound frame is concerning when projecting to the next level and could cause teams to take him entirely off their board. If selected in the 2027 NFL Draft, Brown will need to show he is capable of more route responsibilities in the receiving game. He could be an electric return man and contribute as a receiver out of the backfield at the next level but the size limitations are real.

Main Photo Courtesy of Chris Jones – Imagn Images

Raleek Brown is on his third college program in three years but will be seeking back-to-back strong seasons after setting records with Arizona State last season.
