Still, he ultimately committed to Louisville and the Cardinals immediately received an electric playmaker on offense.

As a freshman, he was awarded the ACC Rookie of the Year and named to the Freshman All-American Team. His 1,173 rushing yards were the first time a true freshman rushed for more than 1,000 yards in Louisville — it also surpassed current Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson’s freshman rushing record that was set in 2015. As a rotational back in 2025, Brown came close to another thousand-yard season but ultimately ended a few hundred yards short. He was named Third Team All-ACC and set a career-high 205 rushing yards against Boston College.

Best Tools for Isaac Brown

Incredibly explosive, slippery and tough to bring down in one-on-one situations against defensive backs at the second level

His start and stop ability allows Brown to quickly adjust to open lanes at the line of scrimmage when they open suddenly

Eye-popping elusiveness against Miami in 2025 — put defenders on skates while maintaining speed in and out of moves

A true “home run hitter” with the kind of third gear comparable to that of the Miami Dolphins’ Devon Achane or the Detroit Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs.

Isaac Brown (RB) Louisville

✅ Shifty with the ball in his hands
✅ Breakaway speed
✅ 8.8 yards per carry in 2025
✅ Acceleration to top speed
✅ Over 2,000 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns in first two years
✅ Vision to find cutback lanes and a nice spin move to… pic.twitter.com/t0lcfmZDQi

— Bengals & Brews (@BengalsBrews) May 5, 2026

Tools to Improve for Isaac Brown

Charging tacklers and defenders have no problem uprooting Brown when they have the angle on him — little problem stopping him from gaining additional yardage

Lack of size and mass limits his body of work in the passing game as he is easily pushed back into the pocket and likely won’t stand a chance against blitzing NFL defenders

Overall play strength will be an issue against bigger and stronger defenders at the next level; he already has trouble pushing the pile at the college level

A smaller frame will lead to durability concerns and has led to some fumbling issues with four fumbles in less than 20 games

Early Player Summary

Isaac Brown has major play strength questions. At just 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds, this is a player who will, more than likely, never be able to push a pile at the next level. Instead, Brown brings top-of-the-class athleticism to his profile. His explosiveness and breakaway speed give him the ability to take any run to the house while a great package of moves allows the smaller frame back to create open areas in the second level.

The Louisville Cardinals have the perfect backfield tandem, something NFL teams may have to adopt if they select Brown in the 2027 NFL Draft. They will rely on the shiftiness of Brown to bring explosiveness to their offense while Keyjuan Brown will lay the lumber as the short-yardage back.

The way NFL teams prefer to utilize their running backs will likely dictate how high Isaac Brown can go in the draft. He feels like the perfect gadget player for an offense that lacks explosiveness but doesn’t possess great skills on third down as either a protector or pass catcher. The 2026 season will be crucial for Brown. If he can stay healthy, limit the fumbles and showcase better play strength, questions will be answered ahead of the draft in April.

Main Image: Jeff Romance-Imagn Images

A scouting report of Louisville running back Isaac Brown, who’s expected to be selected in the 2027 NFL Draft.

[1647,36,33760
33861,34978
post-289730","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","category-nfl-news","category-profiles","tag-2027-nfl-draft","tag-isaac-brown
["GET
