The Alabama Crimson Tide<\/a> has sent several premier wide receivers to the NFL over the past 15 years. Former Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones<\/a>, Amari Cooper and the new WR1 in Philadelphia, DeVonta Smith,<\/a>\u00a0are just a few of the big names at the position who developed in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide has another notable prospect at wide receiver whose style of play isn’t quite like any of his predecessors.<\/p>\n

Ryan Coleman-Williams took the college football world by storm as a 17-year-old true freshman. His highs are as great as any wide receiver in the country, but he’s been inconsistent. How does Coleman-Williams stack up in what should be a strong wide receiver class, and is he worth a first-round selection?<\/p>\n

Coleman-Williams was a five-star recruit coming out of Saraland, Alabama, and the third-ranked wide receiver in the Class of 2024<\/a>. He chose to stay close to home, committing to Alabama and reclassifying to begin his collegiate career a year early. While most players his age were still seniors in high school, Coleman-Williams made an instant impact for the Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n

He racked up 19 catches for 544 yards and six touchdowns in his first five games. Coleman-Williams had his breakout moment against the Georgia Bulldogs<\/a>, hauling in six receptions for 177 yards and a game-winning 75-yard touchdown in a thrilling victory over the Bulldogs. He finished 2024 with 48 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns, along with two rushing touchdowns.<\/p>\n

While Coleman-Williams’s production declined towards the end of his freshman campaign, he was still expected to be among the best wide receivers in college football in 2025. That wouldn’t be the case, as his numbers regressed across the board and he struggled with drops as a sophomore. He still flashed brilliance against the Wisconsin Badgers<\/a>, going for 165 yards and two touchdowns on just five receptions. Coleman-Williams had 49 catches for 689 yards and four touchdowns in 2025.<\/p>\n

Coleman-Williams boasts elite top-end speed, and he can break away for a huge gain any time he has open space. He is incredible after the catch, having great twitch to make defenders miss. His ability to elude defenders immediately after the catch is as good as any wide receiver in recent memory. Coleman-Williams is a smooth route runner who is excellent at creating separation.<\/p>\n
