The Indianapolis Colts concluded their mandatory mini camp and will be back for training camp<\/a> in July. One of the standouts throughout OTAs has been tight end Tyler Warren. Warren is entering his second season in the NFL, and he got a vote of confidence from his quarterback.<\/p>\n

Colts\u2019 Tyler Warren Gets Vote of Confidence From Quarterback<\/h2>\n

Colts quarterback Daniel Jones<\/a> talked to the media about Warren and his role in the offense in 2026, saying, “Certainly expect him to be a big part of the offense again, and he’s making a jump on what was a really, really good rookie season,” said Jones <\/a><\/span>to Mike Chappell of Fox 59.<\/p>\n

Jones also spoke about the season Warren had as a rookie and adjusting to the NFL, <\/span>\u201cI think he was a really smart football player as a rookie,\u2019\u2019 Jones said. \u201cKind of came in with a great feel and instincts \u2013 I\u2019m sure you guys have heard that plenty \u2013 but I think that skill is only something that gets better with experience and reps.” \u201cHe\u2019s gotten more reps, and you can tell, the way he sees things now is even better, and he\u2019s moving well.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Throughout OTAs and mini camp, coaches have taken notice of the work Warren has been doing. <\/span>Head coach Shane Steichen<\/a> noted, “<\/span>Working on his body and just getting into great physical shape, and coming in and out of breaks,” head coach Shane Steichen said. “He’s made some good plays out here in practice in seven-on-seven, some team situations.” Adding, “So, looking for the next steps in his development.”<\/p>\n

Quarterback and wide receiver tandems are important, especially that of all pass catchers. And Warren seems ready for another year of building a rapport on the field with Jones, with Warren telling reporters, \u201cJust kind of simple as it is,\u2019\u2019 Warren said. \u201cYou\u2019re there another year with him, and you\u2019re around him more. Just getting to know him on and off the field when you\u2019re out here, taking advantage of that, but also hanging out, talking in the locker room. Stuff like that is really big for really the team as a whole, and especially with the quarterback.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Tyler Warren Overview<\/h3>\n

Warren was drafted<\/a> by the Colts in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 14th overall pick out of Penn State. In his rookie season, Warren put the league on notice, catching 76 passes for 817 yards and four touchdowns, being named to the Pro Bowl. Warren led the NFL in yards for a rookie tight end and was fifth for yards by a tight end overall in 2025.<\/p>\n

Warren, at 6’6 and 256 pounds, is a big target for Jones and could be the go-to pass catcher on third down and in crunch time. Warren was targeted 112 times in 2025, which led the team. Now, in year two, he could be even more of a viable option on offense.<\/p>\n
