The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/49ers\/\" target=\"_self\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a>&#8216; stud running back is coming off an overall RB1 season, but a 400+ yard-touch campaign and the fact that he\u2019s now 30 years old cloud his NFL future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McCaffrey could still have 1-2 years of elite production in him, but there\u2019s no way of knowing if right now is the best time to move on. It\u2019s an especially crippling dilemma for anyone who is rostering McCaffrey and is still contending.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Should Christian McCaffrey dynasty managers hold on for one more monstrous season, or is now the time to sell high?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christian McCaffrey Dynasty Fantasy Outlook for 2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christian McCaffrey\u2019s Return to RB1 Overall<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the troubling injuries that Christian McCaffrey dealt with in 2024, it&#8217;s fair to wonder if his career was winding down. Lower body ailments limited him to just four games that year, rendering him a draft bust and leaving many questioning his future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, McCaffrey was able to get healthy and bounce back in a big way last year, as he played in every single game and put up video game numbers. McCaffrey wasn\u2019t as efficient as he\u2019d been in years past, but he rode 311 carries to 1,202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, and did a massive chunk of his damage as a receiver with a nasty 102-924-7 stat line.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That massive role had McCaffrey in the top-5 discussion on an almost weekly basis for the running back position, and handed him his third career RB1 overall finish.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fear of Injury History &amp; Huge Workload<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While McCaffrey\u2019s return to fantasy football glory is noted, he was insulated by his pass-catching role. He was still insanely productive in this regard, but he also required a career-high in rushing attempts, even though he lacked efficiency, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some say it had something to do with the offensive line play from the San Francisco 49ers, but the reality is McCaffrey wasn\u2019t quite as effective as a true rusher. That still translates to the dynasty realm, where <a  href=\"https:\/\/keeptradecut.com\/dynasty-rankings\/players\/christian-mccaffrey-283\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KeepTradeCut<\/a> has him valued as an early 2026 first-round pick and a mid-to-late 2027 first-round pick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reality is that anyone rostering or considering trading for McCaffrey has to be honest with themselves. If they are close to contending or are a legit title threat, then holding McCaffrey or acquiring him does make sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, McCaffrey continues to be an injury risk, and at his advanced age, it\u2019s fair to question just how much longer he has left as an elite commodity. He is now 30 years old and has missed massive chunks of three of the last six seasons. He could still maintain a huge receiving role, but <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/20\/analyzing-the-pros-and-cons-of-mike-evans-fit-with-the-49ers\/\" target=\"_self\">prized free agent Mike Evans<\/a> could cut into his ceiling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McCaffrey is also coming off a year where he handled an obscene amount of touches. Running backs historically can struggle the year after a workload like this, and that isn\u2019t even taking into account his age, his lack of efficiency, or his checkered injury history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is McCaffrey still a viable hold or buy for contending teams? Sure, the upside is obvious. But the runway is starting to disappear. Eventually, sometime soon, the days of elite Christian McCaffrey dynasty production will be gone for good. And when that happens, dynasty owners won\u2019t be able to get any value back for him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Naturally, the time to sell Christian McCaffrey in dynasty leagues is now.
