While WR Brandon Aiyuk<\/a> has received the most attention this offseason, a Demarcus Robinson cut is highly likely before the San Francisco 49ers commence their 2026 season. The 49ers signed veterans Mike Evans and Christian Kirk to overhaul their offense after they let Jauan Jennings walk in free agency, who later joined the Minnesota Vikings. They also drafted promising wideout De’Zhaun Stribling while still having a young Ricky Pearsall on the roster, so there is arguably not enough room for Robinson to make the roster. With all of this, it’s reasonable why Bleacher Report believes<\/a> the wideout is their top cut candidate heading into the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Florida product is coming off his worst season statistically in his career. After hauling in 22 receptions for 276 yards and one touchdown, the wideout is now entering the final year of the original two-year contract he signed last offseason. Jennings carried most of the workload with Pearsall behind him, so it made sense why the 49ers went to get Evans in free agency.<\/p>\n

Demarcus Robinson Cut: $9M Star Likely On Thin Ice<\/h2>\n

Even with Aiyuk soon being cut and Kirk likely not making the final roster, too, Robinson is still at the bottom of the depth chart. QB Brock Purdy has enough weapons in the aerial attack to thrive as its long-term pocket-passer. The 31-year-old won’t be getting much interest once he’s released, but given his experience during the first few seasons during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, he should have teams calling for him in free agency.<\/p>\n

Where could the struggling WR go? He’ll likely only sign a one-year deal for the rest of his career, and here are three teams who could be willing to give him an opportunity.<\/p>\n

Potential Fits<\/h2>\n

Indianapolis Colts<\/h3>\n

While the Colts are mulling over adding a veteran before the 2026 season, the team targeting Robinson could make sense. Deebo Samuel, Keenan Allen and Stefon Diggs are the likely names on watch once the team is finished with training camp this summer. However, the team targeting the current 49ers receiver would be sensible given how cheap he might be. Ashton Dulin will likely receive a larger role<\/a>, but he’s an unknown receiver who hasn’t gotten a lot of reps on an NFL field.<\/p>\n

With Alec Pierce<\/a> planning to miss more time due to surgery well into the summer, the Colts must do something to address their woes. Robinson won’t intensify the pass-game for QB Daniel Jones, but he’d be a solid slot receiver who could hold this unit together like glue behind Josh Downs.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Chargers<\/h3>\n

After losing Jesse Minter this offseason, this has been one of the most disappointing offseasons in recent memory before the arrival of Jim Harbaugh. While Harbaugh wants to focus on a strong run game for Justin Herbert, they just can’t ignore adding another WR to save this pass-attack. If they don’t add a WR, they’re purposely wasting Herbert’s talent. Ladd McConkey can turn up the jets if he had another speedy receiver.<\/p>\n

The team drafted another unproven WR in Brenen Thompson<\/a> while they wait until KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris are experienced enough to get a long-term role. The team hasn’t re-signed Keenan Allen, so this means bringing in Robinson should be the route they take to elevate this offense somehow with experience.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Rams<\/h3>\n

After coming close to acquiring AJ Brown<\/a> this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams are still searching for a WR3 behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. This team is too talented on defense from trading for Myles Garrett<\/a> and Trent McDuffie; they can’t afford to walk into the 2026 season without adding another WR.
