The team was unable to find a trade partner, though, so he remains in Indianapolis. But just because a deal hasn’t happened yet, it doesn’t mean it won’t. If Richardson is moved, where could he go? Fansided’s Wynston Wilcox came up with an Anthony Richardson trade idea that has him heading to the Green Bay Packers:

“There’s a few teams that should be interested in Richardson as a backup role with the possibility of turning into a future starter, but one team in particular seems like the perfect fit. The Green Bay Packers need a respectable backup quarterback and Richardson needs a team that will believe in him. It’s almost too good to be true, but this projected trade should get the job done and finally absolve Indianapolis of their Richardson mistake. This trade will finally give Anthony Richardson a fresh start.

Green Bay Packers Receive: QB Anthony Richardson

Indianapolis Colts Receive:

2027 Fourth Round Pick

2028 Seventh Round Pick”

Yes, Richardson certainly needs a fresh start. Will it be in Green Bay?

Anthony Richardson Trade Idea Has Quarterback Going to the Packers

His Career in Indianapolis

The Colts drafted Anthony Richardson fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was supposed to become the team’s first franchise quarterback since Andrew Luck’s retirement in 2019. But that hasn’t been the case, at least not yet.

Due to injury, Richardson missed all but four games as a rookie. He returned to the field the following season, hoping to win Comeback Player of the Year Honors. Yet, he had another disappointing year. Richardson battled injuries, was benched temporarily, and struggled with accuracy issues. In 2024, he passed for 1,814 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for 499 yards and six touchdowns. In addition, he posted a 6-5 record as Indy’s starter.

Richardson did have a few great moments in 2024. He had a game-winning touchdown run in Week 11 against the New York Jets. Then, in Week 13 versus the New England Patriots, he orchestrated a 19-play drive capped off with a two-point conversion.

Last season, Richardson lost his starting job to newcomer Daniel Jones. On October 13, Richardson was placed on injured reserve after fracturing the orbital bone in his eye during pregame warmups. He appeared in just two games last season, completing one of his two passes (to himself) for nine yards.

Should the Packers Make an Anthony Richardson Trade?

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOB0KvBJPmC" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2710px; aspect-ratio: 2710/1807;" ></smartframe-embed>

This offseason, the Colts re-signed Jones, who’ll be the team’s starting quarterback in 2026. Richardson will compete with Riley Leonard to become Jones’ primary backup. If Richardson loses the training camp battle, his services definitely won’t be needed in Indianapolis anymore.

Should the Packers make an Anthony Richardson trade? Yes, they should make a deal for the former Florida Gator. Jordan Love is Green Bay’s starter. Everybody knows that. However, the team needs a good backup to replace Malik Willis, who signed with the Miami Dolphins.

While the Packers signed Tyrod Taylor this offseason, the 36-year-old is an aging veteran. Richardson is much younger (24) and possesses a bunch of potential. Plus, he’s one of the most athletic quarterbacks that has ever stepped onto an NFL field.

Again, the Packers wouldn’t need Richardson to be their franchise quarterback. That’s Love’s job. However, Love has missed multiple games in each of the past two seasons due to injury. Richardson could possibly develop into a respectable backup (if he improves his accuracy), who could start here and there if Love gets hurt.

Wilcox’s trade idea has the Packers sending a future fourth and seventh-round pick to Indy, which isn’t bad at all. So yes, Green Bay should pursue Richardson.

Main Image: Christine Tannous/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

An Anthony Richardson trade hasn’t happened yet, but perhaps one will happen, with the young quarterback heading to the Green Bay Packers.

[36,25,6431
9564,4688,7460,6067,8559
post-288312","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-packers","category-nfl-teams","tag-anthony-richardson","tag-daniel-jones","tag-green-bay-packers-news","tag-jordan-love","tag-malik-willis
["GET
