Zach Allen, who earned First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors last season, will be one of the team&#8217;s leaders among all of the defensive linemen. Now it\u2019s time to evaluate how Allen currently feels about Denver\u2019s defensive line group.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Broncos&#8217; Zach Allen Confident In Defensive Line<\/span><\/strong><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Zach Allen began his NFL career with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/cardinals\/\" target=\"_self\">Arizona Cardinals<\/a> before coming to Denver in 2023, and he also built a strong relationship with Tennessee Titans <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/09\/disruptive-34-sack-defensive-lineman-agrees-to-contract\/\" target=\"_self\">defensive tackle John Franklin-Myers<\/a><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> over the last two seasons. Allen expressed his admiration for playing with his former teammate but is ultimately happy for him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c[Franklin-Myers] is a friend for life, and when you get that type of money, you have to be happy for him,\u201d Allen said. \u201cHe was at my wedding, we\u2019re still really close and talk all the time, he\u2019s going to be awesome in Tennessee, and it was a blast playing with him, for the past two years it\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Football is a next-man-up sport, which is why Allen is optimistic about what the Broncos&#8217; defensive lineman can accomplish in their upcoming season, even without Franklin-Myers. He also feels their core is full of talent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe NFL just moves forward, that&#8217;s just the nature of the business,\u201d Allen said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got some really good guys here who are stepping up, and it\u2019s been really exciting working with them and just kind of seeing what they do. [Franklin-Myers] and I were getting a lot of the reps, but we\u2019re a really deep group.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rookie Tyler Onyedim has already caught Allen\u2019s attention<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After Franklin-Myers departed Denver, the Broncos made it a priority to try to fill such a big void by drafting <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/04\/22\/2026-nfl-draft-scouting-report-tyler-onyedim\/\" target=\"_self\">defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim <\/a><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">out of Texas A&amp;M with their first pick at <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.denverbroncos.com\/news\/broncos-select-dt-tyler-onyedim-with-66th-overall-pick-in-2026-nfl-draft\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">66th overall in the third round<\/a> of the 2026 NFL Draft. Allen had many positive things to say about Onyedim and noticed many qualities within him that most rookies don\u2019t possess.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c[Onyedim\u2019s] got the hard part done, you can definitely tell he\u2019s got the physical traits, and then he\u2019s got a good attitude about it,\u201d Allen said. \u201cHe\u2019s always trying to learn, always asking questions, he really takes the film seriously, which is pretty rare for a young player.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Even though the Broncos began practicing almost two weeks ago, Allen is excited to play alongside Onyedim as things continue to ramp up before the start of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c[Onyedim\u2019s] been great, it\u2019s been awesome, so really excited just to keep working, and it\u2019s crazy to think it&#8217;s only his second week on the job, and when the pads are on, it&#8217;s going to be fun,\u201d Allen said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since the offseason, Zach Allen has worked on improving how he plays, especially with how often he was double-teamed last season<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBewQ9afVc\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2452px; aspect-ratio: 2452\/3000;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2025 marked the first time in Allen\u2019s career when he was frequently double-teamed, which was not only a great learning experience for him but also pushed him to find ways to continue making progress in the offseason.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c[Being double-teamed] definitely was something we worked on in the offseason and had some success with,\u201d Allen said. \u201cIn this league you kind of always just [have] to keep on finding new ways to get better and adjusting to stuff like that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Allen also mentioned how helpful <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/01\/23\/broncos-dc-vance-joseph-named-pfwa-assistant-coach-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_self\">defensive coordinator Vance Joseph <\/a><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is at adjusting to being double-teamed, which creates more opportunities for his teammates. Allen is also hopeful that the Broncos can break the sack record this season, after coming so close last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt also helps when you have [Joseph] dialing stuff up that helps get one-on-ones, we\u2019ve got a lot of good guys, and that\u2019s going to create a lot of great opportunities for people,\u201d Allen said. \u201cWe came close to the sack record last year, and we fully expect to break it this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Main Image: Isaiah J.
