However, with the new deal, the Panthers will keep Coker through at least the 2029 campaign. With that, this could put pressure on Legette, who’s already on the back burner after the team selected speedster Chris Brazzell in this year’s draft.

While the team celebrates the new contract, this ripples through the rest of the wideout room. By drafting an undrafted product, it means the team is rolling on the dice high on Coker rather than Legette. While he still has two years left on his current rookie deal and there’s still time to improve, his chances of making the long-term roster aren’t guaranteed. He’s expected to battle with Brazzell this NFL summer training camp, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Panthers move on.

It’s been rumored that the Panthers are planning to move Legette, but that won’t come anytime soon. They’d want to see more from him this upcoming season, but even that’s risky, too.

Main Photo: Bob Donnan-Imagn Images

Xavier Legette Depth Chart: Hidden By $35M Massive Deal

What this means is that if they trade him in the next two months, that could be very possible, given the outlook of this team’s WR room. Behind him is John Metchie, whom they signed for depth this offseason, and a promising, underrated wideout, Jimmy Horn. Could they make Legette available for a trade this summer? Yes, many should believe that now, after the Coker deal, the Panthers are preparing to trade the unsuccessful former first-round pick to a new team.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBmg7fcQQ6" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4494px; aspect-ratio: 4494/2996;" ></smartframe-embed>

Potential Next Fits

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are reportedly considering adding another wide receiver to help QB Daniel Jones. After re-signing Alec Pierce to a new monster deal and retaining Josh Downs, the team hasn’t been able to add a true slot receiver threat. There are options in free agency, including Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs and Keenan Allen, but could they make a run for Legette? It’s possible, given the stakes, that the Colts are looking to take on a chance receiver to build a true offense for Jones.

The team traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers earlier this offseason and signed an unproven Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. They have one of the worst depths, and if it comes down to a trade with the Panthers, they have to take it.

Dallas Cowboys

Meanwhile, the Cowboys, too, can benefit from a true slot receiver. While they signed veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a one-year contract, the team hasn’t done enough to address the depth concerns behind George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. Ryan Flournoy, who had an unbelievable 2025 season, will get the start as a WR3, but even that’s a toss-up. If this team wants to win during the postseason and become a true NFC threat, they should roll the dice on Legette to see how he can turn out in this offense.

He’d probably be a better receiver than Jonathan Mingo, who’s been a major bust for this organization after trading for him for a fourth-round pick.

Los Angeles Rams

Similar to the Colts’ offensive situation, the Los Angeles Rams are in dire need of a slot receiver. The team ignored adding any firepower to Matthew Stafford’s offense and was too focused on trying to trade Davante Adams for AJ Brown. What they should’ve done is trade for a low-stakes receiver that could emerge as a promising rotational wideout at least. This is where Legette could come into this conversation.

The wide receiver would no doubt thrive in Sean McVay’s roster, especially with Adams planning to retire very soon. Puka Nacua needs a complementary wideout to assist him in the aerial attack, and the Rams snatching the Panthers’ WR makes sense to re-blossom him.

Following a surprise multi-year extension of WR Jalen Coker, a shifting Xavier Legette depth chart is expected this upcoming 2026 season.

<smartframe-embed customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBq5Ch9ESF" style="width: 100%;max-width: 4668px;aspect-ratio: 4668/3114"></smartframe-embed>
[36,30,19,12,34,6431
9094,7739,7422,1039,9146,7800,32529,32193,7473,246,7661,32429
post-287333","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-panthers","category-cowboys","category-colts","category-rams","category-nfl-teams","tag-alec-pierce","tag-carolina-panthers-news","tag-dallas-cowboys-news","tag-davante-adams","tag-george-pickens","tag-indianapolis-colts-news","tag-jalen-coker","tag-lastest-nfl-news","tag-los-angeles-rams-news","tag-nfl-news","tag-panthers-featured","tag-xavier-legette
["GET
