LaNorris Sellers is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks taken in the 2027 NFL Draft. Where will the South Carolina star end up? Recently, Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports<\/a> put together a 2027 mock draft. He has the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting Sellers with the 10th overall pick:<\/span><\/p>\n

Aaron Rodgers says he’s retiring after this season, and while the Steelers have invested multiple draft picks at quarterback in each of the past two drafts, that’s not likely to keep them from taking another big swing if they’re enamored with one of this year’s top prospects. Sellers needs to find more consistency from the pocket, but he’s got as much potential as any quarterback in this class, with a rare combination of size, arm strength, and athleticism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Steelers could be in the market for a quarterback in 2027, and LaNorris Sellers could be the guy.<\/p>\n

LaNorris Sellers Goes to Steelers in 2027 NFL Mock Draft<\/h2>\n

His Career Thus Far<\/h3>\n

Sellers attended South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. During his senior year, he passed for 2,948 yards and 45 touchdowns while rushing for 1,338 yards and 17 scores. He also led the school <\/span>to the South Carolina 4A State Championship.\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n

Ranked as the fourth-best prospect in the state, Sellers\u00a0committed to play college football at Virginia and then Syracuse. However, he ultimately chose the University of South Carolina.<\/sup><\/p>\n

As a freshman at South Carolina, Sellers backed up current New Orleans Saints<\/a> quarterback Spencer Rattler. He made three appearances that year, completing all four of his passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed five times for 51 yards and a score.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sellers became the starter in 2024, passing for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 674 yards (a school record by a quarterback) and seven touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Sellers started all 12 games in 2025, passing for 2,437 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added 270 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Sellers\u2019 best performance came during the season finale against Clemson as he set career highs in completions (23), pass attempts (42) and passing yards (381). He <\/span>finished the season on fire, throwing for 901 yards and six touchdowns over the final three games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of entering the 2026 NFL Draft, Sellers decided to return to school for another season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Should the Steelers Draft Him?<\/h3>\n

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers<\/a> is returning to the Steelers for the 2026 season. He had a decent 2025 campaign in Pittsburgh, passing for 3,322 <\/span>yards and 24 touchdowns. While he’s not the superstar that he used to be, he still helped the Steelers make the playoffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Easterling pointed out, Rodgers says he’s retiring<\/a> after the 2026 season. That means the Steelers will need a replacement at quarterback. The team has veteran Mason Rudolph, but the 30-year-old isn’t the long-term answer.<\/p>\n

The Steelers drafted former Ohio State star Will Howard<\/a> in the sixth round last year. Then they selected Penn State\u2019s Drew Allar<\/a> in the third round this year. However, it\u2019s unclear whether either of them are the future franchise quarterback in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

With that said, if LaNorris Sellers is available, the Steelers shouldn’t hesitate to take him. At six-foot-three and 240 pounds, he possess ideal size, is extremely athletic, and is known as a dynamic runner.<\/p>\n

However, Sellers\u2019 mechanics are inconsistent and his accuracy is a bit rough. If he improves significantly, though, he can can develop into an NFL superstar. The potential is certainly there. He could emerge as the Steelers\u2019 best quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger retired.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2027 NFL Draft class will include talented quarterbacks like Texas star Arch Manning<\/a> and Oregon\u2019s Dante Moore<\/a>, who chose to stay in school. But don’t forget about LaNorris Sellers.<\/p>\n
