A Brandon Aiyuk trade may no longer be in the cards anymore, but it’s not stopping the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver from going on a wild social media rampage, who is demanding to be released. The saga between the team and Aiyuk seems never-ending, but there could be a conclusion coming soon. The receiver took to Instagram this week to call out the 49ers<\/a> for being “stupid” and paying him a surplus amount of money. He didn’t mince words as the receiver desires to join a new team soon, but after his latest tirade, he may have to wait:<\/p>\n

“And another thing. You want to know why they really mad, though?” Aiyuk\u00a0<\/span>said<\/a>. “They mad ’cause they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months and then voided my guarantees for 2027. And I’m about to be on a new team in 2027. They mad at themselves for real. They acting like they mad at me, but they stupid ass mad at themselves.”<\/p>\n

If you read along the lines, he isn’t expected to play for the 2026 season, and instead is looking for a release since the 49ers failed to find a legitimate trade partner for him.<\/p>\n

Is free agency too risky?<\/h3>\n

You can argue that the receiver will have a hard time finding a new home, but Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels<\/a> is open to reuniting with his former college teammate. At the same time, the Commanders brought back Dyami Brown and signed Van Jefferson to address depth concerns behind Terry McLaurin and Luke McCaffrey, so adding Aiyuk might not be necessary. Let’s settle on one fact: the receiver will probably have to wait longer than the 2027 season, and it shouldn’t be surprising, given his latest tirade. Before that, the wideout called out the 49ers once more, calling them “little ass boys” and who needed to stop “running from the bill.”<\/p>\n

With that, it’s safe to say he won’t have much interest. Other free agents, including WR Stefon Diggs<\/a>, who has off-field issues, have a higher chance of landing with a team before him. So what does the future hold for the wideout? One can only guess for the next few months. However, he wants to only play for the Commanders, limiting his options from teams that may generate interest in him.<\/p>\n

49ers Have the Control<\/h3>\n

The 49ers can and will hold Aiyuk as long as possible. Sept. 1 is the latest deadline<\/a> since that’s when his option bonus kicks in, despite voiding all of his guarantees on his current deal. The disadvantage of this situation is that if he misses mandatory camp for the team, he will face fines either way. However, the team is making the situation worse for him as he’s set to face fines of up to $50,000 for every day<\/a>. It’s no wonder he’s pleading for a release, and rightfully so.<\/p>\n

In some respects, to the receiver, it’s time for the drama to be over at least next month. The 49ers are only creating a much bigger distraction for their organization, especially when they overhauled it’s pass-offense for QB Mac Jones. The team signed Mike Evans<\/a> and Christian Kirk to contracts while drafting De’Zhaun Stribling<\/a>. It’s been a tiring past few months for both parties and San Francisco can’t afford to further hurt the relationship with the receiver, even though he will no longer be a member of the organization.<\/p>\n
