The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly urged to complete a Kristian Fulton trade at some point before the 2026 season, as the team is embracing a youth movement. Despite trading Trent McDuffie<\/a> and losing Jaylen Watson to the Los Angeles Rams, the Chiefs drafted CB Mansoor Delane<\/a> in the first round this year while signing Kaiir Elam for depth. There’s still room for improvement, but Moe Moton of Bleacher Report<\/a> believes the Chiefs should embrace the new regime and trade Fulton. The team also double-dipped and drafted Jadon Canady to address any depth concerns, and it’s predicted that the former 2025 third-rounder, Nohl Williams, could become the new permanent starter.<\/p>\n

However, there is expected to be competition for the starting CB, apparently, according to the source. Originally selected as a second-round pick, the former LSU product had a slow stint with the Titans before joining the Chargers in 2024. The CB proved he could be a reliable starter, hauling in 51 combined tackles (39 solo), seven passes defended, and one interception in 15 games and 15 starts that campaign. He finally turned his career around, but unfortunately, injuries marred his first campaign with the Chiefs last season.<\/p>\n

Kristian Fulton Trade: Chiefs Urged to Cut Costly $10M CB<\/h2>\n

The CB is now entering the final season of his two\u2013year, $20 million contract he signed last offseason. He isn’t going to garner a strong market if the Chiefs make him available for a trade, but it’d be better to allow Williams to be their long-term starter. However, many should expect the team to wait on how Fulton does in summer workouts and see if he’s improved.<\/p>\n

If he looks good on the field, but is getting beaten out by Williams, there’s a good chance he could be gone before the start of the 2026 regular season. Here are three teams that could be interested in the Chiefs’ CB.<\/p>\n

Possible Trade Fits<\/h2>\n

Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

The Dallas Cowboys heavily invested in their secondary room, drafting Caleb Downs<\/a>, but they haven’t done much to upgrade the CB unit. While they signed Cobie Durant<\/a> and Derion Kendrick in free agency for depth, they still have a hole there ever since they released Trevon Diggs late last season. Somebody must step up to help DaRon Bland as the next long-term fit in this CB room.<\/p>\n

While they have Shavon Revel Jr. and Durant battling for the top spot, the Cowboys could overhaul the unit and bring in Fulton on a low-stakes acquisition. The Chiefs CB is in the final year of his contract, and Dallas could easily test the waters to see how he’d fit in Christian Parker’s scheme.<\/p>\n

Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

The Carolina Panthers don’t need another starting CB, but it’d be nice to get some decent depth behind Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn. The team overhauled its defensive pass-rush, signing Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd<\/a>, but they haven’t done much for its secondary. Carolina probably has one of the most underrated defenses in the league, and if they want to roll the dice on a potential ballhawk, they could grab Fulton.<\/p>\n

He isn’t going to dash overnight, but he’d be someone to fill in at times during the season and make those crucial third-down plays to turn the ball over. The Chiefs’ CB might not even be a starter anymore, so this could fit him.<\/p>\n

Chicago Bears<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, the Bears need a starting CB since they lost several secondary pieces, including Jaquan Brisker and Nahshon Wright. It was a brutal offseason for the team, but they’ve somewhat repaired their cornerback room, re-signing Jaylon Jones and drafting Malik Muhammad<\/a>. However, it’s not enough for a team that wants to win a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n
