This makes sense as Brown is the one department Philadelphia, so naturally fans will back up their team. Instead of piling on Brown, Kelce pointed to the frustration that naturally develops when an offense stops performing at a high level. He also stated that Brown has not declined as a player, making it clear he still expects the star receiver to produce at a high level in his next stop. His message was simple. The relationship deteriorated because the Eagles offense struggled, not because Brown suddenly forgot how to play football.

The Numbers Support Kelce’s Criticism of the Eagles Offense

It is really hard to ignore Kelce’s criticism of the Eagles offense based on their 2025 stats. Philly only ranked 19th in the NFL in scoring at just 22.3 points per game. The passing game wasn’t as consistent as they are generally known for on the offense. While the Eagles did win eleven games, it seemed like they would get stuck in neutral on offense. You could feel that frustration within an offense that just never clicked after injuries began to take their toll.

Will Kelce’s Remarks About the Eagles Offense Cause a Rift?

While Kelce’s comments on the Eagles’ offense will grab headlines, he does not appear to be making any enemies within the Eagles organization with his words. He did his best to praise Brown’s abilities as a receiver and distribute the blame to the offense as a whole, and not solely Jalen Hurts, or any player for that matter. The comments are simply those of an ex-teammate who watched a gifted group falter. Kelce is such a revered figure in Philadelphia that, despite rehashing a controversial discussion, his comments are unlikely to be perceived as anything more than candid observations.

What Lies Ahead for Philadelphia in 2026?

The Eagles are still well positioned to win the NFC East. The New York Giants are in a rebuilding phase. The Washington Commanders are more of a wild card at this point not knowing if Jayden Daniels can remain healthy, which leaves the Dallas Cowboys as the only remaining threat to the Eagles. A healthier and more efficient Eagles offense may ultimately determine the NFC East race, because Philadelphia has the talent to win the division if it can avoid getting in its own way.

Main Image: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce did not hold back on a recent episode of the New Heights podcast where he discussed the Eagles’ decline they had in the 2005 season.
