From Brock Purdy’s thoughts on how the receiving corps is looking during offseason workouts to the newest rumors on where Brandon Aiyuk will be playing in 2026, there is a lot of chatter in San Francisco right now about how their 2026 season is shaping up.

49ers News: Brock Purdy Talks Offense Going Into 2026

In an interview with NBC Sports’ Laura Britt, San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy talked about how the receiving corps is looking.

“Our receiving corps as a whole, we’re really excited about right now,” Purdy said during an interview with NBC Sports’ Laura Britt. “Everyone’s healthy and good. We got to keep it going and just keep stacking days, and I think we have a really good corps as a whole.”

Purdy also went on to talk about head coach Kyle Shanahan and how excited he is heading into this season.

“He’s pumped. I mean, just watching the film, Christian Kirk, having him in the slot, and what he’s done in his career. Then Ricky Pearsall is back and healthy, Jake Cowing is healthy, Jordan Watkins, and Demarcus Robinson.”

Purdy seems very excited about the new weapons San Francisco has acquired heading into 2026, as does Shanahan. While there is additional 49ers news about Brandon Aiyuk, it seems he has since become an afterthought in San Francisco, with his inevitable trade or release in the near future.

49ers News: Latest Brandon Aiyuk Rumors

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBJZ3HQ7VM" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3000px; aspect-ratio: 3000/2000;" ></smartframe-embed>

It would not be a 49ers news piece if there was not some sort of update on Brandon Aiyuk and where things stand between him and San Francisco. There has been a longstanding rumor that Aiyuk would eventually find himself alongside former Arizona State University teammate Jayden Daniels with the Washington Commanders in 2026. However, according to the Commanders’ quarterback, he is not sure what is in store for Aiyuk in 2026.

“I don’t know, I don’t have a sense of it,” Daniels said. “That is my brother, and we have a personal relationship. His football future, that’s out of my control.”

49ers news has run rampant about Aiyuk this offseason, as it has been one of the major NFL storylines. While playing for the Commanders would make sense, there are several different alternatives for Aiyuk going into the 2026 season. While Daniels has expressed interest in Aiyuk joining him in Washington, only time will tell what colors Aiyuk will be wearing next season.

Mac Jones Agrees to New Contract with 49ers

In other 49ers news, backup quarterback Mac Jones has a new contract with San Francisco. In a tweet from NFL Analyst Tom Pelissero, Jones is slated to make an additional $300,000 bonus, a base salary of 3.55 million, and an additional 2.25 million in incentives. Jones will not officially hit free agency until March of 2027.

The 49ers and QB Mac Jones agreed to a revised contract for this season, adding a $300,000 roster bonus.

Jones is now set to make $3.55M in 2026, with another $2.25M available in incentives, before he’s scheduled to hit free agency next March. pic.twitter.com/L0x4d3zY9H

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) May 27, 2026

While Purdy’s new contract structure is not massive by quarterback standards, the incentives and timing suggest San Francisco values stability at the backup position instead of treating it like a revolving door every offseason. Jones clearly brought value to the team last season when Purdy was out with an injury. If, for some reason, Jones needs to step up into the starting role again in 2026, he will be incentivized well to do so.

49ers News: 2026 Heading in the Right Direction

As the offseason continues, 49ers news will remain heavily focused on the health, depth, and overall direction of the roster heading into 2026. Between Brock Purdy’s continued development, Kyle Shanahan’s evolving offense, and added stability at quarterback behind the scenes, San Francisco still looks like a team expecting to compete at a high level once again this season.

Main Image: Kelley L Cox-Imagn Images

There is a lot of San Francisco 49ers news heading into the weekend.
