You know, in sports watching can be both great and debilitating. Your favorite team could be turning a corner, could be a contender, or they could be down in the basement trying to find their way. <\/span>Players may perform <\/span>great<\/span>, or they may <\/span>turn out<\/span> not <\/span>to be<\/span>.<\/span> Kyler Gordon has found a way to become one of the most polarizing figures for the Chicago Bears since he <\/span>was drafted<\/span> in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kyler Gordon is becoming a Problem For the Chicago Bears\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Going into last season, Kyler Gordon, being General Manager Ryan Poles<\/a> 1st draft selection, was handed a pretty wealthy $40 million contract <\/a><\/span>with $30 million of it guaranteed <\/span>across<\/span> three years.<\/span> At the time, it made sense as a young player who made an impact across his first three seasons. However, the Bears had a lot of moving parts, none bigger than Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen coming aboard as the leaders of the coaching staff. Gordon, coming off of getting that new extension, wanted to make a clear first impression and stamp with his play, but it was far from that.<\/span><\/p>\n

Soft Tissue Issues<\/span><\/h3>\n

This<\/span> is becoming a recurring theme in <\/span>Gordon’s career.<\/span> Unfortunately for him, the Bears have undergone changes now, and big changes at that. <\/span>I hinted above, but Dennis Allen was tabbed <\/span>because of<\/span> his experience<\/span>, <\/span>and <\/span>he<\/span> was supposed to bring <\/span>success to the Bears<\/span><\/a>, but it wasn’t easy for the Bears’ defense.<\/span> They were very subpar when rushing the passer and stopping the run. Bailed out at times by the Bears’ offense, it was a massive struggle, and part of that was because of Gordon’s injuries. <\/span>It wasn’t just one injury either, as his groin, hamstring, and calf all <\/span>ended up with<\/span> Gordon on the IR <\/span>and missing<\/span> 14 games.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gordon Misses Offseason Program<\/span><\/h3>\n

While this time of the year isn’t dominated by many headlines, it can’t be <\/span>looked over<\/span> that once again Gordon is making the news by nursing an injury.<\/span> <\/span>While <\/span>the specific injury wasn’t mentioned<\/span>, it was <\/span>considered to be<\/span> soft tissue <\/span>again<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Coming off a year <\/span>where<\/span> Gordon missed <\/span>primarily<\/span> the season, which <\/span>all<\/span> started last August.<\/span> <\/span>While there is time for him to recover, it doesn’t look good <\/span>that<\/span> Gordon has suffered another injury setback.<\/span><\/p>\n

Outlook\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Again, it’s early into the NFL offseason program. <\/span>This portion of the schedule isn’t mandatory, so maybe he wasn’t even gonna be<\/span> a <\/span>part of the training, but it <\/span>is<\/span> still <\/span>not<\/span> a good look.<\/span> The Bears need Gordon to be out there. <\/span>Not only because he is talented, but also<\/span>, <\/span>the Bears <\/span>were decimated<\/span> by <\/span>injury<\/span>, <\/span>and<\/span> the slot was a target for opposing teams to attack the Bears’ defense.<\/span> Bears made upgrades in the secondary, and none more so than the safety spot with the selection of <\/span>Dillon Thieneman <\/a><\/span>and the signing of Coby Bryant<\/a>. Thieneman, along with <\/span>Malik Muhammad<\/a>, was added to the <\/span>Bears’ 2026 draft class<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wish Kyler Gordon an obvious, healthy, and speedy recovery. He is an important piece of the Bears’ defense that hopes to take another step in helping the Bears push for sustained success.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
