It will be their first year with John Harbaugh as head coach. The team has added several players through the NFL draft and free agency. That includes several offensive weapons for second-year pro Jaxson Dart. While certain skills players are locks to make the roster, the same cannot be said for everyone. Giants Jalin Hyatt understands that firsthand.

The 24-year-old is set to enter his fourth professional season with New York in 2026. However, will Hyatt be on the 53-man roster? With his lack of production over the last two seasons, the young wide receiver is a serious cut candidate. Ahead of 2026, Hyatt could find himself on the practice squad or on another team willing to give him an opportunity.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOB2U0VtP3U" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3600px; aspect-ratio: 3600/2400;" ></smartframe-embed>

Will Giants Jalin Hyatt be on the 2026 roster?

Production after his rookie season is horrendous

During his junior season with the Tennessee Volunteers, Jalin Hyatt was one of the top wide receivers in the country. In fact, he won the 2022 Biletnikoff Award. That is given to the top wide receiver in college football annually. Hyatt finished his 2022 campaign with a Tennessee record 15 receiving touchdowns, along with 67 receptions for 1,267 yards. While Hyatt was outstanding in his final collegiate season, his skills have not exactly translated to the NFL.

As a rookie in 2023 with New York, Hyatt finished with 23 catches for 373 yards. That is far and away the most productive year he’s had with the Giants. It’s unfortunate for a player the team thought highly of. Over the last two seasons, Hyatt has had just 13 receptions for 97 yards. Additionally, he is still searching for his first career touchdown. Giants Jalin Hyatt had five catches for 32 yards during the entire 2025 season. He appeared in eight of the team’s 17 games.

After using a third-round pick to select Hyatt, he’s been extremely underwhelming for the Giants. The young wide receiver has struggled to see playing time. Even when he does, the production is just not there. This offseason, Giants’ Jalin Hyatt is a serious candidate to be cut by New York.

Making the roster is not logistical for Giants Jalin Hyatt in 2026

For the 2026 season, a few wide receivers are locks to make the roster. That includes Pro Bowler Malik Nabers, rookie Malachi Fields, and 2025 team captain Darius Slayton. Most NFL rosters carry five to seven wide receivers. That’s already three projects to make the roster. Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III each signed one-year deals with New York this offseason. Chances are, they make the 2026 roster.

With the players mentioned above, that is five wide receivers who will almost certainly make the roster. That leaves one, maybe two more roster spots available for that position. At this point in his career, Giants Jalin Hyatt hasn’t proven he is worth New York retaining him. A reliable player like Isaiah Hodgins would be of more value to the Giants. Unfortunately, Hyatt seems like a serious cut candidate ahead of the 2026 season.

Time is quickly running out for Hyatt

Teams like the Giants are currently in the middle of OTA’s. Players will have some time off before NFL training camps begin in late July. The next few months are crucial for players like Hyatt. He still has much to prove, and even then, it might not be enough to make the roster. Will OTAs, training camp, and the preseason be enough for Hyatt to be a player the team wants to keep? NFL 53-man rosters are due to the league by August 25. Will Hyatt be on New York’s squad for 2026? He has a $1.8 million cap hit, the final season of a four-year rookie deal.

Main Photo: [Vincent Carchietta] – Imagn Images

As the 2026 season approaches, Giants Jalin Hyatt is a serious cut candidate.
