Following the latest Saints free agency updates, there haven’t been any on veteran former quarterback and free agent Taysom Hill. Saints GM Mickey Loomis addressed the future<\/a> of veterans, Cameron Jordan and Alvin Kamara<\/a>, but it’s being reported that they don’t have an offer out to the utility player. Hill, a former undrafted rookie, came into the league in 2017 operating as a quarterback before switching to tight end. The veteran signed a four-year extension with the Saints following the retirement of Drew Brees, but remained as the third-string quarterback behind Trevor Siemian after Hill lost his starting job to Jameis Winston.<\/p>\n

Now, the 35-year-old could be heading to retirement. However, there’s a possibility that he could join Sean Payton in Denver as the newest tight end. They have a hole in that position with Evan Engram coming off his worst season last year as a starter. While they addressed the WR depth by trading for Jaylen Waddle<\/a>, it would make sense to sign Hill. This is another article to discuss further, but it’ll be interesting to see what type of interest he can garner before the 2026 campaign.<\/p>\n

Saints Free Agency: No Offer for Taysom Hill Signals End of $40M Era<\/h2>\n

While there is still time to search for a new home, the veteran put his home up for sale<\/a>. It likely indicates that he still wants to play again, but is now opening himself up on the market. He’s still considered one of the best gadget players in the league, but coming off a season-ending injury last year, he knew that his future was in doubt. If there isn’t an opening for him in Denver, there is sure to be a fit for him with these three teams.<\/p>\n

Possible Landing Spots<\/h2>\n

Baltimore Ravens<\/h3>\n

Following the loss of Isaiah Likely<\/a> this offseason to the Giants, the Baltimore Ravens could add a fun player like Hill. However, the team signed TE Durham Smythe, but he’s only reliable as an additional blocker. Despite the Ravens selecting Matthew Hibner<\/a> as a possible replacement, why not add a veteran TE? Mark Andrews’ future may still be intact even after John Harbaugh is gone, but he’s getting older.<\/p>\n

This isn’t to say the former Saint will be the long-term fit since he’s on the older side as well, but when you’re dealing with Lamar Jackson as your quarterback, he would appreciate another offensive weapon that’s versatile.<\/p>\n

Green Bay Packers<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, the Packers could use some backup, too. Green Bay lost starting TE Tucker Kraft last season for the rest of the year, and Luke Musgrave didn’t do much to make Jordan Love feel supported. The Packers luckily had several wideouts to lead the offense, but it’s still a hole they need to address. Musgrave could rejuvenate himself and turn the page, but should the Packers sign Hill?<\/p>\n

Green Bay lost Romeo Doubs<\/a> and traded Dontayvion Wicks<\/a>, so the offense could use all of the weapons it can get. The veteran might not light up the field once he arrives in Green Bay, but it’d give Love a reliable weapon in situational moments.<\/p>\n

Miami Dolphins<\/h3>\n

With Jaylen Waddle<\/a> gone, the Miami Dolphins could use some major help on their offense. The team signed WR Jalen Tolbert to a one-year deal<\/a> while also adding Tutu Atwell. The offensive pass game for QB Malik Willis is one of the worst, and they need to do something. TE Greg Dulcich is a sleeper, but why not get an experienced veteran? Hill won’t get a huge role in the offense, but at least it’d be a boost to see if they can make their mark for postseason contention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
