It has been a long battle for NFL free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs, but after the latest verdict, he should be garnering some interest in the following weeks. The former fifth-round pick has been dealing with an investigation involving a private chef<\/a>, but the jury found Stefon Diggs “not guilty.” Earlier this offseason, the New England Patriots released the four-time Pro Bowler amid the allegations surrounding him. The team quickly turned around and signed Romeo Doubs, and might trade for AJ Brown<\/a> next month if everything goes right for New England.<\/p>\n

Last season, Diggs led the Patriots in receiving yards, recording his first 1,000 as a Patriot since Julian Edelman. Despite the receiver no longer in his prime, Diggs is still a capable offensive threat that could turn into a WR2 at best. It feels destined for Stefon Diggs to sign a short-term deal with a contender. He has the versatility and skills to be at his peak even though he’s 32-years-old.<\/p>\n

It might take some time for Diggs to find a home. There are plenty of free agent wide receivers<\/a>, including Keenan Allen and Tyreek Hill, who are available on the market. This isn’t to say Diggs isn’t talented, but when teams have options, it could take a while. Stefon Diggs was linked to the Baltimore Ravens a few times, but nothing came together due to his previous investigation.<\/p>\n

Now, the veteran is completely free. There was also a pitch made that Diggs could return to New England on a one-year contract and pair with Doubs. It could be possible, but that’s if the Brown trade talks falter. Here are four realistic landing spots for the former All-Pro<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Chargers<\/h4>\n

Even though Jim Harbaugh wants to run the football, he wouldn’t overlook improving the receiving unit for Justin Herbert, right? The Chargers should be looking into signing a low-stakes player like Stefon Diggs to help Ladd McConkey. Despite Quentin Johnston<\/a> showing signs of life, this WR unit isn’t talented enough to last in the postseason. The team is building and selecting Brenen Thompson in this year’s draft to develop with KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris, but they lack true star power.<\/p>\n

The Chargers should consider Diggs at a bare minimum to give Herbert a dynamic route-runner.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Rams<\/h4>\n

Meanwhile, the Rams are pushing for a Super Bowl this season after trading for Trent McDuffie<\/a> this offseason and signing Jaylen Watson. Now that the defensive backs are locked in, there’s still a hole in the receiving unit. Matthew Stafford is still figuring out a new contract with the team, but as he’s getting much older, it’s better to provide some additional insurance in the aerial attack to make his life easier. The Rams explored trading Davante Adams, but signing Stefon Diggs to help him in the slot might be the right move for Puka Nacua<\/a> to continue thriving.<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs<\/h4>\n

Similar to Stafford, Patrick Mahomes<\/a> is no longer the same mobile quarterback he once was. He’s coming off a season-ending injury and slowly recovering, so this means a signing like Diggs makes sense. Rashee Rice is talented, but he’s faced too many legal issues<\/a>, and Xavier Worthy hasn’t been too consistent. Tyquan Thornton had bursts of life, but if they can sign Diggs to a one-year contract, the Chiefs should be in a stellar position to return to the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Dallas Cowboys<\/h4>\n

It’s highly unlikely for the Dallas Cowboys to pursue Diggs, but things can change. The team targeted Maxx Crosby earlier this offseason on defense, so anything can happen in the NFL. However, the team signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling<\/a> for depth behind George Pickens<\/a> and CeeDee Lamb.
