After failing to agree on a contract with the Minnesota Vikings, top wide receiver free agent Jauan Jennings is still available, but he might reportedly be a fit for the Indianapolis Colts. Jennings visited the Vikings in hopes of agreeing to a deal, but the free agent has been available since March, and it looks like he will have to wait a little longer. Regarded as one of the top free agents, it’s easy to see why Jauan Jennings could be a solid fit for the Colts.<\/a> Other than Stefon Diggs and Deebo Samuel being available, Jennings is much younger and still has about three to four years in his prime.<\/p>\n

Selected as a seventh-round pick, the former Tennessee product hauled in 55 receptions for 643 yards and nine touchdowns last season. It’s not the best stats, but he managed to be the primary contributor for QB Brock Purdy<\/a> during the 2025 campaign. Before that, the receiver requested a trade before the season started, since he and the 49ers failed to agree on a contract extension. San Francisco, instead of trading Jennings, agreed to raise his pay for the season, adding $3 million of play-time incentives.<\/p>\n

However, this meant that Jennings wasn’t going to return to the 49ers despite catching a career-high of 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns in 2024.<\/p>\n

Colts Could Sign Best Available Free Agent Jauan Jennings After Failed Visit<\/h2>\n

Now, the receiver is struggling to find a home due to his contract demands. Despite his injury history and lack of production during the 2025 campaign, he still feels like he should be paid like a top offensive weapon. Jennings would be able to fit into the Colts offense. The team lost Michael Pittman Jr. due to cap constraints, trading him to Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

The receiver could fit the mold as the WR2 behind Alec Pierce<\/a>, so Josh Downs could focus on the slot. If not the Colts, here are other teams that could pay him a decent contract, or else the receiver will need to settle for the bare minimum of a one-year “prove it” deal.<\/p>\n

Other Possible Fits<\/h2>\n

Seattle Seahawks<\/h3>\n

As the NFC West continues to be one of the most difficult divisions, the Seattle Seahawks might have to sign Jauan Jennings before the 2026 season. Even though the team lost RB Kenneth Walker this offseason, the team signed Rashid Shaheed and Jaxon Smith-Njigba<\/a>. Still, with those top receivers, the Super Bowl champions could benefit from another receiver to help Cooper Kupp, who is slowly aging. Kupp has shown no signs of slowing down, but Jennings would be a major boost for this team’s offense, especially for Sam Darnold.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Chargers<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, despite the Chargers selecting Brenen Thompson in the NFL Draft<\/a>, the team has failed to get at least a veteran wide receiver during free agency. There hasn’t been any update on the status of Keenan Allen, but it would be wise to move on. Ladd McConkey is the best receiver in this group, with Quentin Johnston barely making a name for himself. This leaves KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris, who are still adjusting to the league.<\/p>\n

If the Chargers want to advance further beyond the wild-card, they should consider signing Jauan Jennings.<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs<\/h3>\n

As for the Kansas City Chiefs, QB Patrick Mahomes has dealt with too many losses this offseason. Other than losing Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson in the secondary, the team’s pass offense looks weak. The Chiefs are wary<\/a> of Rashee Rice<\/a> due to his off-field legal issues, while Xavier Worthy hasn’t done anything special lately. Even with the return of Travis Kelce, the Chiefs would still need another receiver to help Mahomes in his return, who won’t be the same after his season-ending injury.<\/p>\n
