We take a look at the status of current NFL coaching jobs, using the coach&#8217;s status crystal ball to evaluate.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>NFL Coaching Jobs: 2026 Job Security<\/h2>\n<h3><b>Tier 1: Untouchable, Job Secured<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andy Reid, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/chiefs\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; This job is safe. He will walk away when he wants to. This future HOF coach has a safe job for several seasons for sure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike Macdonald, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/seahawks\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Coming off a Super Bowl win, Macdonald is solid in Seattle.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jim Harbaugh, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/raiders\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Harbaugh has returned the Chargers to relevancy and isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sean Payton, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/broncos\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denver Broncos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Payton had the Broncos on a likely path to the Super Bowl before losing Bo Nix in the playoffs. This is another HOF coach who isn\u2019t going anywhere soon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ben Johnson, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/bears\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chicago Bears<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Johnson over-delivered in his first season in Chicago, and he isn\u2019t going anywhere soon, either.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Tier 2: Very Safe<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: 1200px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf\" image-id=\"WmOBqgXzlL9p\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 6000px; aspect-ratio: 6000\/4000;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan Campbell, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/lions\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Detroit Lions<\/span><\/a>&#8211; Campbell continues to get the Lions to play, and with the Lions having arguably one of the top five draft hauls in 2026, look for Campbell to continue to work his magic.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demeco Ryans, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/texans\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Houston Texans<\/span><\/a>&#8211; Ryans turned the Texans&#8217; season around last year, and his coaching ability seems to have grown.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kyle Shanahan, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/49ers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Francisco 49ers<\/span><\/a>&#8211; Shanahan continues to produce playoff teams, and turned in perhaps his best coaching job ever last season with the injury-depleted 49ers to the postseason. San Francisco has seemingly retooled after managing some salary cap concerns, and Shanahan has more to work with this season.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike McCarthy, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/steelers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Watch for McCarthy to use his experience to get the Steelers back into the playoffs.\u00a0 A veteran roster led by\u2026 gulp, Aaron Rodgers could surprise everyone in this reunion of coach and quarterback.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Klint Kubiak, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/raiders\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las Vegas Raiders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The darling coaching hire of the offseason takes over for the Raiders, with expectations perhaps low. If Kubiak gains even 6 or 7 wins with this roster, fans and ownership should be happy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jeff Hafley, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/dolphins\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miami Dolphins<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; In his debut season for the Dolphins, Hafley should have at least one season to prove himself. The Dolphins are in rebuild mode after jettisoning Jaylan Waddle, Bradley Chubb, Tua Tagovailoa, and others, and expectations are low in Miami.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Todd Monken, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/browns\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cleveland Browns<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The Browns have been a mess for\u2026 a long time. Monken stepping in will have leeway, and unless the Brown go winless, his job should be secure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robert Saleh, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/titans\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tennessee Titans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Saleh will invigorate a Titans team that seems to be low on talent. Gain at least three wins, and his job looks to be secure.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Tier 3: Safe, But\u2026 Results Matter<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"max-width: 1200px\"><smartframe-embed class=\"smartframe_wp_element\" customer-id=\"a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9\" image-id=\"fwuQKNZZoGnw\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4000px; aspect-ratio: 4000\/2667;\" ><\/smartframe-embed><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike Vrabel, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/patriots\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New England Patriots<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Just a month ago, Vrabel would have been in the Untouchable group. After the last few weeks of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/04\/30\/new-england-patriots-head-coach-mike-vrabel-scandal\/\" target=\"_self\">news surrounding Vrabel\u2019s personal life<\/a>, however,\u00a0 he is in this group. Do the distractions from his personal life impact the team\u2019s success? This is a ranking that is one of the biggest questions this offseason.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevin O\u2019Connell, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/vikings\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minnesota Vikings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Do the Vikings have what it takes to get back into the playoffs? If O\u2019Connell stumbles out of the block, this seat will get hotter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matt LaFleur, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/packers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green Bay Packers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Same as O\u2019Connell. The NFC North is tough, and if the Packers trend towards not making the playoffs, this seat is going to get extremely hot.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zac Taylor, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/bengals\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; A healthy Joe Burrow and Dexter Lawrence leading the defense? Taylor can\u2019t afford an iffy season, or this seat moves to the very hot category.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan Quinn, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/washington-commanders\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Washington Commanders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Quinn knows how to coach defense, and if Jaden Daniels returns to form, Washington should surprise fans. Quinn\u2019s job security will be shaky, however, if the Commanders don\u2019t rebound from a poor season in 2025.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joe Brady, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/bills\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buffalo Bills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Brady takes over a roster built to win now, and, with <a href=\"http:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/tag\/josh-allen\" target=\"_self\">Josh Allen at the helm<\/a>, a Super Bowl is the expectation. Brady has a little room for leeway, but a disappointing season could see the Bills make another move. Nothing is for certain here.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jesse Minter, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/ravens\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Baltimore Ravens<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/02\/13\/grading-the-baltimore-ravens-new-coordinators-of-the-minter-era\/\" target=\"_self\">Minter takes over for John Harbaugh<\/a>, and although the Ravens are retooling around Lamar Jackson, expectations for Minter are high.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike LaFleur, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/cardinals\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arizona Cardinals<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Hired to take over this Cardinals team that last season might have had the least talent in the league. LaFleur gets at least four wins, and his job is secure for sure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dave Canales, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carolina Panthers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The Panthers surprised many last season and are now being viewed as an NFC favorite. Canales probably earned some leeway this season as long as they at least make a playoff run.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevin Stefanski, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/falcons\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Atlanta Falcons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Even though he is in his first season, Stefanski is going to have to prove he can get something out of this Falcons squad. He should be safe unless the Falcons struggle to gain only 3 or 4 wins.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liam Coen, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/jaguars\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jacksonville Jaguars<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Coen has the Jaguars on a path to competing for a division title and a deep playoff run. Unless the Jags somehow stumble to only 5 or 6 wins, his job is safe.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Tier 4, Watchlist. Seat Could Get Hot Quickly<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nick Sirianni, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/eagles\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Philadelphia Eagles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Two seasons ago, Sirianni\u2019s job was in jeopardy early on, and then the Eagles went on a run that ended in a Super Bowl victory. This team appears to be loaded, and if they struggle, Sirianni won\u2019t be long in Philly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian Schottenheimer, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/cowboys\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dallas Cowboys<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Jerry Jones might think this team is capable of a long playoff run, but that is questionable. If <a  href=\"http:\/\/dallascowboys.com\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Cowboys<\/a> struggle,\u00a0 Jones will likely make a change at coach.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shane Steichen, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/colts\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indianapolis Colts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The Colts began the season on fire before sliding at the tail end of last season. The Colts are a solid bet to make the playoffs, and if they falter, Steichen is probably gone.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Todd Bowles, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/buccaneers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Bowles is still the skipper of Tampa Bay, but after missing out on the playoffs last season, he needs to get this group back to the postseason, or his tenure is likely over.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kellen Moore, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/saints\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Orleans Saints<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; This Saints roster could be a problem for Moore\u2019s longevity as coach. Unless he can gain at least 6 wins or so, his coaching job is in jeopardy and he remains in our NFL coaching jobs watchlist.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Tier 5, Hot Seat. Risk is High<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aaron Glenn, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Jets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; This roster underperformed in 2025, and many thought Glenn would have had better results. After a draft class that has some being optimistic on the Jets\u2019 fortunes, Glenn has to demonstrate he can get this group to play with effort. A slow start, and Glenn\u2019s future will be in question immediately.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Aaron Glenn drafted D\u2019Angelo Ponds<\/p>\n<p>Who is D\u2019Angelo Ponds\u2019 player comparison?
