Things aren\u2019t exactly quiet around the Chicago Bears<\/span><\/span><\/a> right now. It\u2019s not chaos, but it\u2019s not one of those offseasons you forget about by June either. There\u2019s enough happening to keep people checking in, and just enough uncertainty to make it worth watching. Some of it feels routine. Some of it definitely doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s get into some recent Chicago Bears news and noteworthy items.<\/p>\n The <\/span>Chicago <\/span>Bears <\/span>continue <\/span>to <\/span>work <\/span>towards <\/span>what <\/span>could <\/span>be <\/span>the <\/span>biggest <\/span>transaction <\/span>in <\/span>team <\/span>history, <\/span>a <\/span>brand <\/span>new <\/span>stadium. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The <\/span>Arlington <\/span>Heights <\/span>location <\/span>has <\/span>long <\/span>been <\/span>at <\/span>the <\/span>center <\/span>of <\/span>these <\/span>efforts, <\/span>and <\/span>a <\/span>new <\/span>modern, and <\/span>potentially <\/span>domed, <\/span>facility <\/span>that <\/span>would <\/span>both <\/span>replace <\/span>Soldier <\/span>Field <\/span>and <\/span>offer <\/span>the <\/span>team <\/span>more <\/span>control <\/span>over <\/span>revenue, <\/span>development <\/span>and <\/span>the <\/span>fan <\/span>experience. <\/span><\/span><\/span>More <\/span>than <\/span>just <\/span>football, <\/span>though, <\/span>the <\/span>long-range <\/span>plan <\/span>is <\/span>to <\/span>have <\/span>a <\/span>complete <\/span>entertainment <\/span>district <\/span>surrounding <\/span>the <\/span>facility, <\/span>which <\/span>has <\/span>become <\/span>par <\/span>for <\/span>the <\/span>course <\/span>among <\/span>NFL <\/span>franchises.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker indicated<\/a> that they need to move as fast possible to get a deal done.<\/p>\n “We have to be competitive here,” Governor Pritzker said. “We want to make sure that the Bears see Illinois as the best alternative for them and that they have something that they can make a decision about that’s in front of them…So as fast as possible is what I’m advocating for. And I realize that the legislative person, I’ve been around the legislative process enough to know that it is sometimes difficult to wrangle there 177 members of the General Assembly.”<\/em><\/p>\n Chicago’s head coach Ben Johnson<\/span><\/span> made it clear that there was thought that were put into these picks and that they were not just random selections. Johnson indicated they were not filling holes and were targeting specific types of players that were available when their picks came up.<\/p>\n Johnson explained<\/a> that connection in detail when asked what ties this rookie class<\/a> together:<\/p>\n \u201cI think (Assistant General Manager) Jeff King hit it a couple days ago, and that’s really that we’re looking for high level competitors,” Johnson said. “Guys that if you took football away from, they really don’t know what to do with themselves. It’s a huge part. They eat it, they sleep it, they breathe it. And I think we’re able to identify those types of guys.
