The Titans’ front office underwent significant remodeling earlier in the offseason, before launching a head-coaching search. Brinker’s decision to leave the franchise effectively makes GM Mike Borgonzi the sole decision-maker until a successor is named. What’s next for the organization, and who could be a candidate to succeed Brinker?

Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker steps down pic.twitter.com/SkLc59saep

— Tennessee Titans (@Titans) April 29, 2026

Tennessee Titans Front Office Remodels Again With Shock Change

How did we get here?

Brinker joined the organization before the 2023 season as assistant general manager under then-GM Ran Carthon. Before Carthon sealed his fate and earned his termination within the franchise, Brinker was elevated to the POFO role in 2024. Borgonzi entered the fray as general manager in 2025 with grand designs to return the franchise to glory.

In January’s power restructure, Borgonzi led the head-coaching search that landed Robert Saleh and a host of follicle-deficient coaches. The GM possesses control over roster decisions and other factors that lead to them, while Brinker oversaw the daily minutiae and the analytics department. Both men reported to the owner, Amy Adams Strunk, separately. This allowed the organization to establish a clear, unambiguous chain of command before Brinker’s departure.

Why did he leave?

In his departing statement, Brinker said he wanted to return to a role in personnel, but with Borgonzi in charge, that wasn’t going to happen. He entered the NFL workforce as a scouting intern for the Packers in 2009, working his way up the organization on that side. The former POFO leaves the Titans in a good place with a promising GM and a new head coach. Clearly, he sought a greater say in personnel matters, as someone of his background is wont to do. It just wasn’t possible under the new power dynamic in Tennessee. Perhaps he’ll land a role on that side of the front office as the league enters its annual May purge of scouts and executives. There is one GM job open for Brinker to pursue: Minnesota, after they relieved Kwesi Adofo-Mensah of his duties.

What’s next?

If anything, this ensures that Borgonzi is the head honcho of the front office, without peer, with Saleh reporting to him. There’s a proper chain of command following Brinker’s departure, and no palatial intrigue in Nashville. However, Tennessee must hire someone to fill his role so as not to overload Borgonzi’s plate with daily business in addition to his duties. Could there be more shakeups on the horizon? For the first time in a while, there’s relative stability within the personnel department. Not many of the initial top-level Borgonzi staff have left their positions.

Who could be a candidate?

While there could be a host of candidates interviewed, Paul Kuharsky floats the idea of Tennessee keeping things in-house.

The #Titans have said over and over the football side is too big for a GM to run.

With Chad Brinker leaving as president of football operations, I wonder if room is being created for Bryce Wasserman. He is chief of staff in football operations, and is Amy Adams Strunk's son in…

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) April 29, 2026

Wasserman currently holds the ambiguous title of Football Operations Chief of Staff. He joined the Titans as a legal intern in 2021 while playing Major League Lacrosse. The Strunks’ son-in-law married into the family in the past couple of years. He holds an MBA from Monmouth and a JD from Miami. Wasserman rejoined the franchise as full-time legal counsel in 2022, then moved to the football side as manager of Football Strategy in 2023. He’s been in his current role since April 2024. He may be a candidate, but the Titans will likely look elsewhere for someone with a stronger CV. Even with his background and family ties, a position overseeing Borgonzi or a collaborative role with Borgonzi could be too early for him at this point.

Kenneth S. Adams IV

Kenneth S. Adams IV may take a more active role in the front office as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors. Brinker’s role was to oversee the day-to-day operations, but Adams hasn’t been actively involved with the football side other than being a part owner. He’s been mooted as the long-term successor to Amy Adams Strunk, but plays a largely background role. Adams is the grandson of franchise founder Bud. Perhaps he’s ready to get more involved in the day-to-day operations to help split up Brinker’s duties.

The Titans’ revamped power structure gets another renovation.
