These rounds are filled with players who are developmental prospects, system guys, and contributors in different roles. There may be hidden gems – players who could develop into stars and even make Canton.

Rams Add More Depth in the Last Two Rounds of the Draft

The Los Angeles Rams have several positions to strengthen, including receiver and the offensive line. In the first round, they selected Ty Simpson from Alabama, a move that was met with mixed reactions. In the second and third rounds, they drafted Max Klare, a tight end, and Keagan Trost, an offensive lineman. The Rams addressed some of their needs, but they still need another receiver and maybe another lineman.

While the sixth and seventh rounds are usually littered with non-starters, they can produce legends. Players like Larry Allen, Shannon Sharpe, and Tom Brady were selected in the sixth and seventh rounds.

Sixth Round Pick

In the sixth round, the Rams selected CJ Daniels. Daniels is a 6-foot-2, 202-pound receiver from the University of Miami. Daniels is an amazing, contested pass catcher with a great catch radius. He shone in his first game with Miami, making a one-handed catch in the end zone against Notre Dame, and finished last season with 50 receptions for 557 yards.

Daniels has problems being pressed and may need schemes designed to get him open. He has great tempo, body control, and separation tactics. Daniels is a skilled receiver who played six years in college for three different schools. Beginning in 2020 with Liberty, he played there for four seasons before transferring to LSU in 2024. After a season in the bayou, he transferred to Miami last year. He had his most successful season in 2023 at Liberty with 55 catches and 1067 yards.

Daniels will likely serve as a backup receiver, especially given the Rams’ use of 13 personnel, but he could still get targets from Matthew Stafford. Daniels’ presence and catch radius make him likely to get playing time and possibly make a difference in games. He was also a quality run blocker in Miami’s offense and showed a willingness to do whatever it takes to play.

Seventh Round Pick

In the seventh round, the Rams selected Tim Keenan III. Keenan is a 6-foot-1, 325-pound defensive tackle from Alabama. Described as short but stout, he is an effective run stopper. Keenan isn’t much of a pass rusher with 5.5 sacks in four years at Alabama. His selection in the seventh round solidifies his role on the team as the third nose tackle on the depth chart.

Keenan wasn’t a player who jumped off the screen in college, but he is serviceable. Short for his position, he is still a wrecking ball that can become more than his selection. He also played all four years at Alabama, which is rare given the rise of the transfer portal and NIL. Keenan may not make major contributions to the Rams’ future, but he could still have a solid career in the league.

The Rams added two more players who will strengthen the roster.
