Former Vanderbilt quarterback and Heisman finalist Diego Pavia is easily the biggest name of the undrafted free agents. Despite his collegiate success, the 2026 NFL Draft<\/a> came and went without a single team selecting him. While he did accept a minicamp invite from the Baltimore Ravens, he is a long shot to make the roster. With his NFL future looking grim, he could end up in the Canadian Football League (CFL).<\/p>\n

The CFL is home to several big-name college athletes who couldn’t quite cut it in the NFL, and Diego Pavia could be the next to move up north to continue his football dreams. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers currently have his negotiation rights<\/a>, and Pivera could end up playing games on the other side of the border.<\/p>\n

It should go without saying that Pavia will not join the CFL as long as he has even the slightest chance of sticking around in the NFL. Undrafted free agents make the league all the time, and the quarterback is the most important position in football. If he shows even the slightest sign of promise, the Ravens or one of the other 31 teams will at least offer him a spot on a practice squad.<\/p>\n

Pavia is one of the most fascinating prospects in recent memory, simply because he’s the only Heisman finalist in history to go undrafted since 2014. He dominated on the field, completing 70.6% of his passes for 3,539 yards and 29 touchdowns while adding another 862 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. This production is obviously fantastic, but his style of play doesn’t translate to the NFL, and he’s not a good enough athlete to potentially get away with a non-conventional style of play. Perhaps he can surprise with a strong offseason and earn a role as QB3 or even land a spot on the practice squad, but there’s a good chance he’ll have to make a name for himself in the CFL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
